i hate old people and computers! how is it they cant follow simple instructions, and then you are supposed to know what they've done wrong without being able to see what they are doing? and when u are trying to tell them how to correct what ever it is they have done they wont listen and are doing something else?? aaaahhhh!

But why do they have a computer if they really don't even know how to turn them on? I really do empathise with the majority but there are some really horrible ones who just think they know what they're doing and it can be very simple if THEY'D JUST LISTEN!!

I can't wait till I'm old so I can annoy people like that. :pac:

Seriously though some people should not be allowed near computers.

oh, im in serious danger of going off on a rant after reading this thread. defo, a lot of older people who have computers should not have. reminds me of an aunt of a parent who is around 80, she told me her laptop had a virus and it was "extra hot" recently :(:pac:

You should have bought her one of these. Then you could have told her everything was fine.

if I ever get that bad that I cant use a pc without destructing it I think I will do the honourable thing and not use the internet :P

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 902 ✭✭✭stevexo

my dad is doing some lessons every friday with a bunch of people from the active age in the local area. i cant imagine how the peoson running those lessons feels. he does be on the laptop at home and sayin "but we use the big screen in the class. this is different. its not the same" eh, no u JUST HAVE A NEWER VERSION OF WORD, HOW MANY MORE TIMES DO I HAVE TO EXPLAIN THAT TO YOU AND YES ALL THE BUTTONS LOOK THE SAME THEY ARE JUST IN A DIFFERENT PLACE, SO PRESS THEM BEFORE CALLING ME!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,114 ✭✭✭corkcomp

I cringe at the thought of giving computer lessons to older people:eek: my parents have been using computers for at least 30 years, and they still f**k up :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,088 ✭✭✭NoDice

It's so weird though, my OH's parents can have a perfect conversation/debate about the new Mac products and about different software etc whereas MY parents (who are near 20 years younger!!!) can barely access their email (they've just about learned how to power on the laptop!)!

I asked my mum recently if she could check my hotmail account whilst I was on the phone (don't have a computer at my house) and she replied "Hot male??? What!! I'm not going onto a porn site!!" :pac:
