    Scam e-mail from UPS?

    I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this but recently I've been getting e-mails, purporting to be from UPS and concerning a supposed parcel I sent with insufficient address.
    I'm suspicious because;
    (a) I have never in my life sent a parcel by UPS
    (b)There is an attachment to open
    (c) Two of the mails were not addressed to my address and how they even got into my mailbox (Yahoo) I don't know.
    Has anybody else had anything like this or heard of a scam that might be going on?

    Just as I thought, thanks. I'm still curious as to how a mail not addressed to me got into my mailbox.

    You're on the BCC list, so your address doesn't appear in the to list.

    Its a type of Virus. We've had clients who have never dealt with UPS ever but decided "ah yes I must open this"... Guess what happened then.!! We had another client recently who got a message that they had a virus and a link to download antivirus software, again what did they do??? They entered in there credit card details, then wondered why there computer was still all messed up and only then decided to ring the experts!!! Virus damaged the OS, full fresh re-install and the cancelation of the credit card!!

    Advice is free why dont people ring IT companies and ask before they do things Ill never understand..

    I didn't open any of the attachments because it was on my PC and I was immediately suspicious. I can see someone in the despatch department of a busy shipping company doing it though, sometimes people don't want to look like fools by asking for advice.

    Another similar one today, this time supposedly from security at Facebook notifying a change of password.

    Have you registered that email on any new sites recently?

    I have registered my Yahoo address on several sites, I keep it for that reason.
    As I said in my first post the mails are addressed to different addresses, with usually only the first letter of my address, so I can't understand how they even deliver to my mailbox.
