Just wondering if anyone is same is me ..... I have big boobs (30G) and am slim size 8-10. Problem is I can't find any decent tops /dresses on the high street that are flattering. If I buy to fit my boobs, its a size 16 and it will look like a tent! and if buy to fit my waist, I end up looking slutty :-(
Does anyone know any good places to buy clothes for my shape? I have a birthday party to go to in a few weeks and I can't find anything that fits and is remotely fashionable  I have bought a few things from bravissimo clothes in the past and its ok but the styles are a bit conservative for party wear and the dresses are too long (did i mention I am also short...5ft 2)
Anyone the same ...and what do you do?

Yup I have the big bazooka problem also :D
I tend to buy vests that have lycra in them - vera moda have a gorgeous range of vests & tops now that are perfect with, say a tulip skirt to balance out your figure.
Always go for a low round neck or a v neck top cos high neck ones make them look even bigger. I also tend to go for darker shades on top and brighter on the bottom to draw attention away from the ladies.
Funnily enough I find that dresses with a waist belt minimise the bust also - New Look have some nice ones with a bit of stretch on the boobs and if you're adding a waisted belt then you can buy a bigger size.
A Wear and Topshop have some nice kind of peasanty style dresses that look great with a waisted belt also.
    Hope that helps somewhat!

I would seriously suggest you get yourself a sewing machine and start playing around with it.

I think, as a general rule, the majority of clothes shop just cater for the average. Someone between 5'5 and 5'7, and whose waist and chest will increase or decrease in proportion.

If your short (I am too), the majority of dresses, skirts and trousers will need to be taken up anyway. Added to that if your waist and chest doesnt meet the proportions the shops make their clothes in, you will get lots of use out of a sewing machine.

Think about it - you will probably have problems finding clothes to fit for the rest of your life. Get yourself handy with sewing and you will soon have everything fitting you like a glove.

Start by just playing with it and hemming things, or take a night class at some stage to learn the basics.

As for the party - you might find a wrap dress somewhere that might work?

Or treat yourself, and invest in a made-to-measure dress by a dressmaker? Maybe pick a design that you can imagine wearing lots of different ways or with different accessories so you will get lots of wear out of it?

A good fitting bra!!!! Cannot emphasise this enough! I am big myself but always try get fitted ones which can make a massive difference (think Gok Wan and the wonders he worked on his show by just correcting people's underwear!)

Wrap dresses? Look great, can be casual or dressed up, it's how you accessorise!

I second Little My's suggestion of alterations; I am useless at it myself but it can make a difference. Or if you fancy treating yourself to a holiday in Thailand or somewhere, get all your dresses/suits made to measure out there; regret not getting more made, any fabric any colour any style....and a holiday! Okay, a bit extreme but keep it in mind and treat yourself to a new bra!

Good luck, I know how hard it is in Ireland, the amount of boring Dunnes V-necks I have is unreal because of the lack of nice tops in any shop that cater for us DD+...

I like this solution. Shops will never stock clothes other then the size that is 'avarage'. It's just uneconomical for them to do so. As a result anyone who dosen't match their average is left to make do as best they can. My shape makes it damn near impossible to get anything off the rail.
Buying and altering the garments yourself makes perfect sense in the long run.

Sorry that this is not an answer to get you past your party issue but it's something to concider for the long term.

Bravissimo (in UK and mail order) do clothes for larger chest ladies that are normal sizes with extra material in the bust area. I have a couple of things from them that work really well. Their sizing system can be a little confusing but it's work spending the time and money to get some of their stuff. I also buy from petite ranges in places like Debenhams and avoid buttons.
