    hi all,
im driving an e39 530d 2001 thats just toped 84k on the clock.never had a bit of bother in the 4 months ive had it... untill today. car lost power and cut out 3 times on the way home. each time the DDE light came on the dash. When tried to restart it from being dead the same DDE light came on and didnt turn off untill eventually the car spluttered and started... it then proceeded to travel a few hundred meters and cut out again. I had a quick look at the battery and the indicating 'light' should be green according to the manual but is black (which, once again acording to the manual means that the battery needs a full charge). im rightly p*ssed off at the min becuase i need the car for friday morning.
Anyone any ideas what the issue is? is it just that i need a new battery? if so how can i get the car to someone to change the battery without the ability to drive it to them... worse still could it be the starter is gone?

any ideas would be great. Im in d15 if anyone can recomend someone local

no, it was due to be refilled though. just as i was coming home the light came on to fill the tank. but i didnt get to a garage, so there would still be just under a 1/4 tank in her and i always fill up at the same garage every week.

could be the fuel pressure sensor,I think its at the rear of the cylinder head, disconnect and reconnect the sensor and see how it goes.if its ok then get a new sensor,a mate works on beemers and he's replaced a few he says.
