Rights of jobseekers in other member states
The European Court of Justice has ruled (in Cases C-22/08 and C-23/08) that a jobseeker who has established genuine links with the labour market of a member state can receive a benefit of a financial nature intended to facilitate access to employment. No matter how it is classified under national law, such a benefit is not ‘social assistance’ which member states may generally refuse to jobseekers. It is not yet clear how exactly this ruling will be applied but it does seem to suggest that migrant workers who have been working in Ireland for some time and who are seeking Jobseeker’s Allowance (JA) may be able to qualify for JA based on their status as workers under the rules on free movement of labour even if they do not meet the habitual residence requirements.

Are you Spam. Thank you for the non-information you have provided in this thread.
I have some mates working in the airports and sea ports around the contry , they have been alerted to the impending influx of migrant workers that are going to appear at our gates.
Ireland is pretty much closed for business for a while but I love your optimism.

Nobodies asking you to put any credence in whatever political opinion the OP has, it is what it is.. a news story..

You can draw your own conclusions to what the article contains without bothering with 1 person's opinion of it

Thanks for your insight but I can see the thread for what it is and the OP's intentions.

Can't locate this, but in a recent article there was two Irish women on a flight from Latvia, all bound for Dublin. It was reported that ALL except them two were Latvian. What do you reckon they were coming for? We can debate all we like about WHY they are coming, but I think it's naive to think that they aren't coming, and aren't coming in fairly large numbers.

Can someone answer the following question.

Is this new policy going to be mandatory, and across the board for all member states? If so, please provide a credible source.

Only places I see reporting it are the Mail and the Star, and both articles are of a very poor standard. No real detail or background, no attempt at any kind of analysis, and going out of the way to make sure it's phrased in a way to imply it's new legislation by the EU, rather than seven years old.

I haven't seen anything solid to suggest how it's going to affect Ireland, and I'm suspicious that it's an attempt to imply that Jobseekers Allowance is going to be affected, when it's possible it's Jobseekers Benefit.

Edit: I don't read the Mail, and haven't seen much of it bar what gets posted here, but if the linked article is any indication, the standard of writing / quality control is not very high.

    .

These papers do not do analysis so it is hard to quantify , but it is real easy to link to them when you are pushing a similar agenda.

But then again it is 7 year old news.

Some of it is correct, I think - that the seven year Worker Registration Scheme in the UK is coming to an end. How applicable it is to Ireland, or even if the UK are going to introduce some other form of control, or if it will have any real affect, are all fairly speculative in the absence of any solid information.

They can sign on with the health board whilst their claim is being processed. The fundamentals to this proposal are sound. There is a Plan B in place.

    :)

You've posted this a few times.

Do you have a link? I've posted a link that questions it and even you posted that to get SWA, they'd need to have made a claim for SW, which they cannot do until after 3 months.

So here we go again IrishManSaipan. But wait. We are still waiting for you to respond on the other thread. You know - the one where you posted loads of bull**** biased information and you got called out on it comprehensively. Your articles were misinterpreted, your math was wrong and your opinions either misinformed or biased. ?This was pointed out to you and you said you would reply. You haven't. Read for yourself dear boardsies:

Instead you ahve started another thread with racist overtones. Well I'm sorry, I'm notwasting my time reading your links and articles until you answer the ones in the other thread. Because if you can't accept that your information was false, then there is only one conclusion left. You are a racist.

Yep, the credit pyramid installed an ugly sense of arrogance in alot of people and when the next wave emigrates I think you'll find alot of them might encounter some of the ugliness that's on here.

Latvia has the highest unemployment rate in the EU, circa 20%. They have no social welfare system worth speaking of. What do you think they were coming here for? Craic agus ceol?
