So, where do you stand on the issue of smuggling food into the Cinema.

Do you think it's the stingiest thing that stingy people could do?

Or do you think in today's economic climate, it's just been frugal?

I myself am in the middle as I'll buy Popcorn, Coffee and Ice Cream, that's it.

I will smuggle in packs of Maltesers and few Lolly Pops and Fox's Glacier Mints.

I'm not paying €4 for something that is €1.90 in Spar, fcuk that.

I don't eat crunchables in the cinema like Nacho's and Crisps as they are too noisey and neither should you.

    So what says you?

Nope I don't smuggle grub in but I don't blame anyone that does. The flipping price of the cinema food - you'd want to take out a loan to pay for it!

I hardly ever go to the cinema but if i do, i'd have very little change out of €20, and that's only for entry, medium popcorn and drink.... Pretty ridiculous really.

I don't smuggle: mainly because I'm lazy, and also because I go to the cinema so rarely that the prices don't really bother me.

Plus no shop near the cinema seems to do those gross nacho things with the rubbery cheese sauce and jalapenos, nom.

Btw, the poll won't be of much use.... If it isn't close to 100% for option number 4 i'll eat my hat!

If its a late show I bring in the crack pipe. For matinees I try to limit myself to a shoulder of vodka and maybe a joint of weed. I am actually a decent person to sit beside in the cinema, I'am usually very quite due to the fact I'am unconscious, although I do sh*t myself on occasions.

I just don't eat in the cinema. Might bring in a 500ml bottle of coke, but I've never understood the people I see with nachos, popcorn, large bags of sweets and an oil tanker filled with coke struggling to get to their seat and then spend the entire movie rustling papers.. Im not a health freak or anything, far from it in fact, just never got the whole 'pigging out' at the cinema.

Oh and pete, no crunchables, yet you unwrap individually wrapped fox's glacier mints in the cinema?!!!

I go to the cinema all the time and smuggle in food and booze.

There's nothing like a bottle of beer while watching a film on the big screen ;)

It could be consider a crunchy snack item but I won't classify it more of a chewy snack.

For a snack to be legally classified as a "crunchable food item", you would need to be able to 'snap' it.

If you can't 'snap' something, it is not therefore 'crunchy'.

Some people actually confuse 'breaking' with 'snapping', easy mistake to make.

For instance, you can snap a bar of chocolate, but unless the Db level can be subtracted from the audible balance average that runs along the niambic scale in a quite enviroment, it's just a break and not in fact a 'snap'

People who smuggle Kettle Crisps in should be executed.

    So..... isn't popcorn crunchy?

Are you not allowed bring your own food if you want to?
I've never been stopped, and haven't exactly had to smuggle the food in, I carry it in a bag over my shoulder, but if they asked to see what's in the bag would I have to show them and throw out the food?
I usually pack a picnic for the kids, microwave popcorn and a few bottles of water, I was at toy story 2 3D a few weeks ago and the little fella guzzled through the water i had brought so I popped out to the shop and asked for a small bottle of water, of which i could see loads only to be told they don't sell them separately, only as part of a kids meal deal, so I had to pay 4.85 for a 500Ml bottle of purified tap water, maybe if they weren't such extortionists the public would be inclined to spend a bit more, it's not like they are selling the tickets cheap either, over €14 for a 3D ticket.

I go to the cinema twice or three times a year, I don't like their popcorn and the sweets cost far too much. I bring something to munch on (crackers or rice cakes) and some water. :)

    They do indeed.

I see around 7 or 8 movies a week at the flicks and the UCI is the only Cinema that I can see that Pop their own Popcorn and serve melted Butter.

Cineworld's popcorn is popped in a factory and reheated :mad:

7-8 a week ? Are you a film critic? I probably see about 4 a year.

Only thing about the UCI cinema's is that the seats are pure shíte. I cant get comfy in them.

Out of interest do you just watch everything that comes out? That seems like a lot of times to go to the cinema.

I like my movies too but I don't think I'd be bothered going that much even if I had the time .... even if I lived next door as 90% of what comes out is just rubbish.

I bring in a little hot plate, frying pan, some butter, bacon, bread, sausages, beers.

Baby I get my grill on!

I was told when I was about 14 walking into UCI Tallaght looking like a pregnant teenage boy that you can infact bring in food, just no hot food like McDonalds.

Saying that I always get me a large coke. I'm a fiend for tap coke and I don't have it except when i'm in the cinema. The odd time i'll get a popcorn deal but I generally regret it after.

GF will occassionally treat her self to some B&J (giggidy) or pickk'n'mix so we do spend quite a bit when we go, but if Boots (liffey Valley) is open we'd buy a pack of sweets there a lot cheaper than the cinema.
