    Master of the Universe

When I was six my grandparents bought me the Black Seas Barracuda lego ship.

I almost had a heart attack when they brought the box in.

When I was about 9, I came home from school and went upstairs to my bedroom to see that my parents had thrown out my old bedside lamp and had gotten me a new Manchester Utd one. I thought it was the greatest thing ever, I even cried with happiness. Still works almost 12 years later...

Besides getting the usual toiletry bags every Xmas the best pressy I got was a painting of Arnie from Terminator 1. A friend gave it to me for my birthday, was the last thing I was expecting to see but was odd getting a present I genuinely was chuffed about :pac:

It now hangs up comfortably on the wall above the TV :D

A framed Steven Gerrard shirt signed "To Caoimhe, All the Best, Steven Gerrard" for my daughters christening. Technically its her present but she'll never appreciate it as much as i do.

the gifts I like the most are the stuff my nieces and nephews make - pictures they've drawn. My niece made me a really cute valentines card a few weeks ago, means a lot:)

    Aww :)

My little cousin makes little pictures for me... Every time I visit, she has these hand-make drawings with "I love you" written on them.
    It's really sweet!

Someone wrote a book for me for my birthday. One day she found out that I liked sci-fi films and it was based on the Terminator film, but based in the future. It took her a year to do it.

Thought that was an awesome gift. The most awesome gift ever.

    My first Walkman in '83.

It was an unbelievable feeling to be able to control when music played and stopped.

    Stop laughing kids

Second would be in '85 my Dad got me a VHS Recorder (Telefunken - this is the exact model) :D

Being pause and remind movies was amazing when you first did it.

I remember all my mates gathered round watching :p

    Stop laughing kids

In '86 got my first mountain bike, Raleigh Maverick

You got a VHS recorder before a bike! you are so spoiled Pete!

I really had to laugh at the present I got last year for Xmas, probably makes it the best present cos I seldom remember what I get from one year to the next.

My mother kept asking me what I wanted, and I kept saying nothing, cos truth is I dont really need anything at this stage, and she was really wrecking my head about it one day so I just said 'Oh, a ****ing sony psp'.

I kinda meant it as a joke cos I dont really play games anymore and knew she wouldnt remember it anyway. That was until my sister heard her on the phone to some electrical store asking them if they sold 'panasonic tst games'!

Sister set her straight and I got one, and actually loved it!

Nope, but the bike I had before the Maverick was .. not the coolest, we'll say no more :o

Bless my Dad, but he used to go to Garda auctions and buy Lotts, so we wouldn't have a clue what we got till we got home and took everything apart.

    The video was in one.

The buttons on it you could control with your feet and you couldn't use it if people were in bed as the noise would wake the whole house, seriously :p

For me, it's always been ones which indicated that the person was really thinking about me - like, really remembering stuff I'd mentioned, even throwaway comments, and this being reflected in the gift...

Photo collages, scrap-books etc - I'm a sucker for them. But they're bittersweet too...
