As far as i was aware it was 6 that were sacked all together but 3 of those six were contracted through another company.

This site has me confused because some say they were dismissed after the boardroom file was found and this was the real reason they were fired while others say they were fired later for pornography being stored in their email systems so when were they actually fired and what was the reason given to the individuals for their dismissals???

Also as far as i am aware they were sacked but every employee's email was looked at and some managers and operators have been given warnings because of the joke emails that may contain a pair of breasts...but it was the type of material found in the 6 guys inbox's that caused them to be let go... If I remember correctly its not the first time that someone has been let go in green isle for storing pornography in their email inbox and it was widely known back then that if it happened again it wouldn't be good for whoever involved..

Before you ask i USED to work for green isle foods but have been out of their for about 5 years now so have no ties to the place but i can honestly say they never been anything but good to me.
In my opinion and it is only my opinion this is a power struggle now with the union and green isle.....the engineers have always thought they were untouchable because they had a union whereas no one else had and this has been thrown up many times in green isles face...i used to be on the staff representative group with a shop steward and i can honestly say he thought he was untouchable because he was a union member....

An engineer was in a scrap at a christmas party one year and hit by a manager usual drunken scrap it was non work related and was off site when it happenend however engineer's then went to green isle management and told them that should this man not be fired they will go on strike....and this man was in fact sacked... so i suppose after that type of folding from green isle the engineers could feel they had control and i reckon they thought the same this time but its not working and now the union are trying to take back the power from green isle and they are digging their heels!!

I do so feel for the men on hunger strike and their families...i don't feel it was the right decision to make but i still hope it gets resolved soon and i hope these men can get home to their families soon..

    4. Why is no-one mentioning the fact that Green Isle have received €43 million in grants from the IDA? They take money from us, but won't recognise our Unions or the Labour Court.

    .

And how many millions have green isle paid out in wages over the last 20 years that flows into the the local economy. Plus water and council rates.

Please explain what the IDA grants have to do with having recognise unions. If it was mandatory for companies that receive IDA grants to recognise unions it would defeat the purpose of IDA grants ‘allow companies to grow and create jobs’.

You banned this person for rating a comment as pathetic and calling the author a loser.

Did you take any action when somebody stated their desire to see the hunger strikers die?

How does the charter permit one, but not the other?

A DISPUTE between a food manufacturer and four of its employees over the alleged accessing of confidential company information is expected to be settled at the High Court today.

Green Isle Foods Ltd, Naas, Co Kildare, had earlier this week obtained a temporary injunction requiring Declan Foley, John Recto, Colum Beirne and John Peters to maintain the confidentiality of information which allegedly included commercially sensitive data on company profitability and a plan for a small number of redundancies.

The four were suspended on full pay last Friday after it was alleged they accidentally accessed the information and it was allegedly downloaded on to a USB memory stick.

The four had refused to sign undertakings sought by the company in relation to the information and claimed such undertakings would be used as the basis of disciplinary proceedings against them.

The Technical, Engineering Electrical Union (TEEU), which represents the workers, served notice of industrial action as a result of the suspensions.

Yesterday, the High Court was initially asked by counsel for the company to continue the temporary order on confidentiality and also asked the four staff provide information of the identity of any third parties who may have been given the information or how it might be accessed.

Marguerite Bolger, for Green Isle, said the information involved was “incredibly sensitive” and included share price information which might require the stock exchange be informed.

Lawyers for the four staff asked for an adjournment as they had only just obtained legal advice.

The lawyers asked for time to respond to what was described as a number of inaccuracies in sworn statements provided by the company.

Following an adjournment and discussions between the parties, Ms Bolger said a number of undertakings had been drawn up which, if the staff agreed to them, would mean the matter was resolved.

Ms Justice Mary Laffoy adjourned the case to today for the undertakings to be finalised and continued the injunction in the interim.

Thanks for that Siochain...that was my understanding of the case but hearing the two completely different sides i had wondered....

So my question.....if the undertakings that were drawn up by the company and agreed to by the staff had resolved the matter but green isle then went on to sack the staff giving this boardroom file as the reason why have the employees not taking them to court for unfair dismissal???? If they are so confident about it and i'm not saying they should or shouldn't be but in their own minds they know they are right then bring them for unfair dismissal they will win and so green isle would have to cover their costs....Just a thought, i know if it were me thats what i would be doing not watching my collegues and their families go through this torture....
