Usage of Fe for Under

Can someone explain the usage of "Fe" for "under" by the GAA as in Fe 12, Fe 14 for Under 12, Under 14 age groups. I cannot find any reference for Fe in any dictionaries and Faoi is the standard word for Under. Zough

Fé is used in Munster for 'faoi'.
