Rent supplement Galway, €70?

    Hi,
I am on casual JSA, I get €150 a week. (signed on October-first payment end of December)
I have never claimed rent supplement as I was managing fine, my rent was only €50 a week as i was sharing a room, now the girl i was sharing with has moved out and my rent is going up to €70 a week. As it stands, we are not getting another housemate to move in.
I know the cut off for a single person in shared accommodation in Galway is €66, but are they in anyway lenient about this? I mean it's only €4 more.....
and it's not like I'm living in a palace or anything, where are these rooms in Galway city that are less than €66?
    Cheers,
    Jenny.

    No.
Tell your landlord that it is only €4 a week.

Is your landlord okay with you going on rent supplement? He will have to sign your application form and give his contact details and that means he has to be okay with being registered as a landlord and okay with the tax people etc.,

With regard to the extra 4 Euro, couldn't you negotiate with your flatmate for her to take that on in exchange for you buying extra loo roll or cleaning the oven or the like? Obviously, you would have to sign for that in blood!
