OK Guys lets put this into perspective.
I started tracking this thread for a fun. I didnt know it was a commercial venture or likely to become one and I am not involved in it other than out of interest.

How anyone can find the horse racing selections impressive is beyond me.
I offered Semi the opportunity by PM to point out that the horse racing tips were not that impressive and he declined. I would rather he had pointed this out himself.

So, so that I am not guilty of misleading anyone. Here are some hard facts...
Semi has invested just over 230 points to win just under 15 points.

That is an ROI of less than 7%

Basically that means that for every £1000 you bet on this thread you would be winning under £70 at SP. Is that impressive?
I dont think it is so because I do not want to encourage anyone to join a service with those figures I am out Semi.

    Hi PB,

Thank you for the stats on the trial of the selections. It is a little less clear when individual selections are advised at different point stakes. It is good to see the cold hard figures.

7% is not an excellent ROI, but considering that is the return at SP. Top levels PRO's only expect 15% ROI. So considering this and that also the vast majority actually have a negative ROI, it is not really so bad is it?

    What ROI would you expect?

So the SP selections have return 15 points in the past month and half.

So based on say 10,000 (100 point bank)

1,500 for 23,000 stakes with maybe 20% max drawdown on the account minus subs of say 250

    1,250

So if the performance continues in this way until year end, maybe 8K to this stake level.

Provided the returns continue it would be a good component of a portfolio?

    Hi Pb,
Firstly can i thank you for the time and effort you have put in to recording our results over the last 6/7 weeks that we have been posting on this thread no easy task.

Having read your post i am @ something of a loss to see how your opinion can change so quickly. Only day`s ago you were promoting our syndicates results as being significantly better than PWE including Tom Segal(i must inform you if you are not aware of it that PWE/Racing Post is indeed a commercial venture).

The sudden change of heart has left me totally flabbergasted to be honest. You must have your reasons for this sudden change of heart but that`s your decision.

In the mean time i will continue to post the selections 10 mins or so prior to the off for people to come to their own conclusions.

Once again PB thank you for your efforts!

    PB,

I am sure i speak for the rest of the thread readers when i say that i would appreciate if you continue your good work until the selections finish. The format that you record them in is very easy on the eye and enjoy in keeping track of the results of the selections!!!

    Happy punting

No winners of the pick 6 jackpots this evening having said that perry barr got to 1 ticket on t6 in the last leg.

Associates will be entered again tomorrow. Belle vue`s pool is building up nicely but is a strange jackpot in as much that it only has 5 races to pick the winners of(easy:rolleyes:)

We had a small profit of 1.4 pts approx @ sp today which i don`t think is included in the results.

So profit should in the region of 16.4 pts bearing in mind associates easily get better earlier prices with out having to break into to much of a sweat!

Just one other small point if you can excuse my ignorance. What is drawdown?

Semi, I see where PB is coming from. You started off this thread as MYtips- ie a regular punter who is a bit better at picking em than some of us lol. This was much appreciated especially when a couple of selections clicked on the same day. However as singles the profits are not huge (except for that one that drifted to 12s). Suddenly every post has begun with WE. and its turned into a commercial venture re the syndicate/dogs etc. Even when PB defended you about picking horses that were being backed etc there was no mention of the syndicate. You even said at one stage that you hoped to become PRO as opposed to SEMI PRO at one stage (cant link cos Im on phone). Therefore I also think the thread was a plan to get members. While I appreciate the tips and hope they will continue I would have liked if you were more open from the start. Btw what happens if one of the associates starts posting your tips early? Hope you dont do a PW type legal threat on us.

Drawdown is a term normally used in the management of stock trading accounts. It refers to the % reduction in the balance of the account from the most recent high of the account.

Or simpler terms the riskiness of the account balance and the likelihood that it will go Kaputtt !! :D

With having all the figures and information to hand I would make a guesstimate that the MAX drawdown would 20% or below

    Re: thesandeman ...

If fairness would you pay £100/month for tips and post them for free? I do not think that would be an issue. BTW let me know if you are subscribing, this way i will not bother myself. Provided of course that you post them early ! :)

Ok chap`s thanks for your help and info but that`s the end of the trial. Associates will be capped@ 22 until futher notice.

Once again many thanks for your help and i hope you get the legal issue with PWE sorted!

Sharing is caring Jodaw. If I had a 'guaranteed' winner I would have no problems posting it once everybody was on at GP. Think Ive only done it once since Ive been on Boards though. I wont give anything unless Im 100% if thats possible in racing.

    hmmm ...

I dont think semipro would be too happy if the tips where continued to be published here ...

  • Moderators Posts: 8,881 ✭✭✭x PyRo

    end of the trial.

    No, please God NO!!

I think this was the plan all along, get people to be associates in something that doesn't exist.

    Hmmm ...

There certainly is a lot of skepticism on this thread. I for one think it is probably the best profit producing thread in here and a breath of fresh air to be honest.

The results are here for everyone to see ... plain as day ... it has produced a profit over a decent period of time ...

I am disappointed that the selections have finished as i was hoping to follow it until the months end.

I hope that semipro will have a change of heart and post his selections until the end of the month. I have logged into boards specifically to keep track on this thread. Guess i wont be around here again until something decent appears ...

Either way it was good while it lasted ... it has been a pleasure to see your selections semipro. BTW just out of interest. Do you have one person that specialises in horse racing? Is it based purely on form and ratings or privileged information? Or a combination of both?

Sorry for so many questions ...

  • Moderators Posts: 8,881 ✭✭✭x PyRo

I just find it funny that once the associate "deal" is mentioned then he decides to quit it, there should be at least a 3 month period to see if it keeps profit, not shutting it down after 1 month and a couple of weeks. Pathetic attempt to fleece people of their hard earned imo.

I taught i got it wrong at the start of the thread by being too critical, but i wasn't wrong.

Sorry for so many questions ...

It`s a combination of both the later info comes by way of info passed on by shareholders who are @ the track/race coarse. They pay and have paid a lot of money to keep certain people sweet sorting the wheat from the chaff has cost loads. But their long term investment has produced dividends and good for them! Our shareholders formed the syndicate 14 months ago they are like minded people who believe in the ethos of sharing information. They on the whole have been recruited through forums like this one. Indeed one of the shareholders has used the site for many months.

With associates getting 3 and more profitable services (horses/ greyhounds and footy into 1 subscription lasting 3 months working out @just over £11 per month per service(37 pence per day). I think this represents exceptional value for money. Throw in a possible special dividend if our dogman comes up trumps with the pick 6 selections during the period associates are quids in.

Well the proof is in the pudding with 22 associates welcomed to the syndicate i expect to see them all there with new ones added come June 2010!

Those of you who have sent emails to me this morning will be put on a associates waiting list and will hear from me in the future as we open the doors to new associates.

ps Just a word of warning to all those of you who are considering joining alternative services there are a lot of scam outfits in this industry just trying to rip people off. If you must join one pay nothing up front and insist on a 4 week freel trial of the service

Have you become an associate? If you have please let us all know if you are 1 of the 22. All i'm interested in is are you now recieving the horse tips early enough to benifit from a good early price. Only previous posters will be trusted obviously. Not looking for the tips necessarily just interested in integrity and consistency of this outfit.

    cheers

    Hi Kb,

Jodaw is not an associate, but has kindly offered to update the results till the end of the month. To produce the results he needs the selections before the event has started!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 724 ✭✭✭jodaw

    Hi Kod-box

I believe the selections were going to be posted in the thread until the months end. This has been cut short for semipro's own reasons...

personally i think one or two may have been suggesting that semipro has had ulterior motives all along. i do not think think the thread comes across this way ... I am normally very skeptical about this kind of things ...

but i am taking the thread for what it is ... which is a very decent return for a couple of weeks selections.

semipro has decide to email myself and maybe other thread followers the selections until the end of the month. I am not an associate so i will not receive after this either.

I am not placing any wagers on these selections and solely following out of interest. In return i will act as a proofer of his selections until the end of the month to put finality on the thread. More than likely i will not be accessing these selections during the day for work reasons so i will try to update in the evenings.Simply because PB is not longer updating and it would be good to see it through for the 2 months

it was a decent day today and some points have been clawed back ...
