Common things that are seemingly impossible to find!

    Howdy.

I had today off, and spent it farting about with the computer, doing Linux stuff, and I swiftly ran out of the CD-r's (writeable CD's for the non tech people about)

So off I went down the town to purchase some more with this cash stuff I had in my pocket.

Firstly, I went into the only computer shop in town. "Should be quick and easy, and back inside away from the environment and people soon," thought I.

Wandered around the shop. Quickly became confused when I couldn't see a spindle of them anywhere.

So off I went (with a trumpetty trump) up to the sales assistant. Helpful enough looking chap, with a shirt and tie. Had a bit of a lost look about him though.

    "Em, sorry, where's the CD-r's?"

    ... (lost look from him)

    "Blank cd's?" says I.

    "Ooooh, don't have any."

    "OOoooooook. DVD-r's?"

    ... (I'm sensing a trend here.)

    "Blank DVD's?"

    "Oooh, don't have any."

    "Right, no worries. G'lack"

"Odd," though I. No matter, off I went to the local Tesco large supermarket type place.

Wandered around, found the tech section, and lo and behold I spied some spindles.

Off I went over to them, and picked one up. DVD+r. Damn. Not what I'm looking for. (The PC I'm working with is 15 years old. DVD-r yes, +r no.)

Looked about. Asked a comely lass in a uniform about "blank CD's," having learned my lesson the last time.

"Shure, dats dem dere." Pointing at the DVD-r's and looking at me like I was drooling on her foot.

"To hell with this" thinks I. "I'm out"

Right so, as much as it galls me, off I go to Argos a warehouse type shop.

Looking through their catalog, I come across CD-r's. Pricey at €15 for 10, but none the less, "Success," thinks I, until I enter it into their stock check machine.

0 in stock. "Ah what the..!"

"Right, balls to it" thinks I.

Went off to Lidl big german market shop, to grab some snackybites.

Was queuing, and staring off into space, and lo and behold, stacks of spindles. Went over to have a mooch, and there we go, 50 CD-r's for €7. can't argue with that.

    TL;DR version

What common or garden items have become really hard to find these days.

I was in Tesco earlier and I couldn't find any of those replaceable sponges that fit onto those washing-up liquid filled handles.

Every other week that I didn't need them, they're there.

So I tried Dunnes, but they didn't have any.

So then I decided to just not bother washing dishes and bought disposable cutlery instead.
