Thought Paul Ryan (Ballyboden and DIT) might have got a look in but on plus side he has plenty of time on his side. Dotsy O'Callaghan starts on the bench with Tomás Brady, Oisin Gough, Joey Boland, Peter Kelly, Liam Rushe, and David Treacy all named in Starting fifteen having featured in the midweek Fitzgibbon cup clash involving DIT And UCD on Mobhi Road.

I'd have Waterford as slight favourites aswell, especially given that they've home advantage. It'll be a close game though. I'm still hoping that Dublin can get something from the game though.

Have you that little respect for Dublin that you think Davy can put out a severely weakened team and still expect to win. If i was a betting man i would defintely back Dublin.

We're at home. We've just won the Waterford Crystal Cup by beating 4 good sides, and doing so without the majority of the players listed above. That severely weakened side you talk about still has a good mix of possible C'ship starters and very promosing minor/U21 hurlers that have already excelled both last year and in the WC Cup. But then again it wouldn't surprise me if we lost at the weekend. We are without a lot of players and I know Dublin are continuing to improve every year.

Btw, you know times are changing in hurling when you're accused of showing a lack of respect to the Dubs when you predict your own county to scrap past them by a few points in our home ground

Unfortunately I gotta say that Dublin are a great price at 6/4. Waterford have a host of players missing as outlined above - possibly as many as 9/10 championship starters, thats massive. Also Davy just doesnt take the league anyway seriously, we were totally muck in all the games last year apart from beating KK which was the 'revenge' match for the AI hammering. Daly and the Dubs will be seriously up for the league, dont forget they beat us last year and would have hammered us only for the heroics of Power in goal.

I cant look to the Waterford Crystal Cup as much of a pointer as it really is just a tournament for warming up, plus we were extremely poor in the final and unjustly beat a college side. Since then losing a challenge to Cork.

I really hope I'm wrong but Dublin to win this, and a possible relegation struggle for us this year.

tbf Daysha considering the rest of your post highlighting so many of Waterfords stars out and then to just throw in a prediction of a Waterford win at the end it does smack of a bit of arrogance. $hit-stirrer as our good pal Orizio can be, he had a point this time I feel.

The post later in the thread where you highlighted some reasons for a Waterford win wasnt arrogant in slightest btw.

I agree with KevIRL, the Dubs at 6/4 is a great price, normally I don't bet on GAA matches but this is too good to pass up. A decimated Waterford squad against an improving team, lead by a capable manager with a proper outlook on the league. I'd be very surprised if Dublin don't win this.

simple really. We are putting out a strong team. We just missed out on NHL semis last year. Form points to a dublin win.

No Semis last year or this year. top 2 go to the final.

I'd give Dublin a good shout at winning this.

Dublin had a good year last year but I thought they were poor against a bad limerick team and folded a little too easily.

If they want to kick on this year they need a good league starting on Sunday. Dublin by 3.

It looks like I'm not going to make this one, I'll be stuck in Dublin (off all the places :P). It's probably a long shot but does anyone know of a good place near or around Parnell Park to watch the game? TG4 are only showing deferred coverage though so I dunno how many places will end up showing it.

If its live try the Beachcomber on Howth Road. Plenty of pubs on Malahide road as well. Think the Goblet is the nearest, (St Vincents is five minutes away from Parnell Park so they are bound to be showing it as well)

Cheers for that, like I said cause it's only deferred I wouldn't be so sure, but I might take a wander round there eventually. (I'd have some fun wearing my Waterford jersey in St. Vincents

Ah they wouldnt have a problem with it. Once wore a Dublin jersey to a Kildare Donegal game for a dare. Got a bit of a slagging over it but the banter was mighty

Try Craobh Ciarans Club house at the back of Parnell Park there a hurling club too. Heading to waterford for this game but obviusly posters on this site predicting a dublin win havent seen them play recently. I saw them play galway last sunday in the walsh cup and they were poor and galway won with plenty to spare. Yes dublin were missing a few but dublin were so far off the pace. I think waterford will have a bit to spare over the dubs on sunday.

I'd say it'll be a fairly close game and wouldn't be surprised if ye won. We've a fairly young team named, whereas yerselves have a strong team (and bench tbh).
Should be a good game, looking forward to some hurling again!

Lads, this blind cockiness kills our footballers, please don't bring it into the hurling side as well. We could win down there on Sunday, but it would still be a decent upset. We played quite poorly last Sunday against Galway at home. The college lads are only coming back now and that's a good chunk of the Dublin team, so they might take a few games to settle back.

This Waterford team might appear to be weak, but they still have Hennessy, Connors, Prendergast, Brick, Neagle, Mo Shanahan, Hurney and Molumphy. I hope we'll do it, but Waterford are still justifiably favourites.

I dunno which is more surprising, the fact Molumphy is playing or the fact he's playing in corner forward!

A bit disappointed Martin O'Neill isn't starting ahead of Tomas Connors, I would've thought his performances in the WC Cup would've been enough to earn him a place in the startin XV.

I would have a lot more confidence in hurlers than our footballers at the moment tbh
