School Trips, Anecdotes & Going On The Bounce?

Did you ever go on the 'Bounce', what you get up to?
School Trips
Went to Lisdoonvarna when I was in third year and stayed in some kip hotel. Was a blast though, didn't sleep a wink. Bought a penknife in the Aillwee Caves giftshop and was messing about thinking I was the hardshaw with it and mate kicked it and it closed on my finger and sliced of a good ole portion off my knuckle. Clear passed out and came to on a leather sofa in the Hotel lobby. Great craic though, one of the best times of my life.
LAlso, went to London with 4th year and bought a bottle of whiskey in an Off-Licence for the first time and for some reason tried to put on an English accident and the girl said "You Australian?". I just nodded. Me and a mate ended up getting lost as we got separated from the group in Victoria train station. Couldn't remember the name of the hotel so we went to Soho and had a look around. We then phoned the school in Dublin and asked if they knew the hotel name. 10pm we finally got a Cab to the Hotel and where then grounded for the rest of the trip and the everyone had drunk the whiskey.
On The Bounce
Hard to explain this to people who are under 35 but when the Square first opened in Tallaght it was big fcuking news. People couldn't shut up about it. I was 16 then which was also round the time I had been sneaking out my Dads car. Long story short, five of us bounced off and went on a our trip to Tallaght. We never made it. Ended up nearly getting killed up the mountains where the cars park for the view. Tried to do a u-turn but the car conked out and van came tearing round the corner, lads were screaming, 'move the fcuking car you cnut ffs'. Went to McDonalds drive through in the end and then back home before my Dad got home from his shift in Aer Lingus. I opened the hall door and let him in cause I knew he'd hear the engine ticking down if he went in the side past the car
Bounced off and went to the cinema a few times also.

Trips:Usual Irish adventure centres like Killary, Delphi, Blessington, and the usual Sightseeing places like Newgrange.
Also went snowboarding to Italy, went to Paris, went to Prague(well, some of the school did, I didn't), went to a few other places I cant think of
On the hop? Don't think I have actually!0 -

Ah Mosney, it was a ****ty version of Butlins but dammit, it was OUR ****ty version.
I went but can't remember who brought use. Maybe was a community thing. I remember there was this restaurant that you could see inside the bottom of the pool while you were eating.
All the lads pulled down their speedos n stuck their arses against the glass, parents covering their kids eyes and others blessing themselves .. :pac:
Went to Clara Lara camping with the Scouts too. Was great laugh, Scout leaders were bunch of weirdos though.0 -

5th class on a school trip to Clare. We were in a hostel.
I remember a very special night. It's the night of the Champions League Final between Manchester United and Bayern Munich. My whole class, including my teacher, Miss Walsh were United supporters. I remember when Basler scored and everyone was depressed. I remember Oliver Kahn saving everything.
The celebrations when Sheringham scored, were eclipsed by the celebrations when Solskjear scored. Everyone went mad, my teacher jumped on the table cheering, so did half of my mates. It collapsed. But no-one cared.
It was about 3 am before were we ordered to bed. Everyone was split off into bunks. Lights out in 20 minutes the landlady said. No food or drink was allowed in the bedrooms. It was 4 bunks per room. She made inspections but we had stuffed loads of cans and crisps/bars in a drawer :pac:
We stayed up all night and got hyper. My friend was sleeping on the top bunk, and we decided to push him off. The screams made our prinicpal burst in, off course we was tucked under our covers laughing.
The day was spent hiking up hills. The night, we played cops and robbers in a forest. It was so dark, we had to use our torches. Best game ever. We all headed inside. And then my mates decided to ransack the other bedrooms. I was ordered to keep 'sketch'. We all then hopped into bed and waited until the others went and we could hear the expressions of 'WTF?'
Ohhhh so many more happened that trip. Sorry to bore you 0 -

I also remember at that time there was a craze about those crude thick silver identity bracelets. Slip ons with white socks and one of them and you'd be peeling the women off ya :cool:

Nothing like remembering how the world was when you were 11/12/13!
I'll tell you one thing about when I was around 12. I knew more people who ended up in Beaumont's casualty after watching The A-Team than anything else.
People say kids today are nuts, when we were young we were scutching lifts on the back of vans, trucks or anything and sliding along.
If there was a building site near you, you'd be tearing along the scaffolding not a fear in the world and if you lived near a castle, forget about it
Swords castle is all closed off now with offices and crap but when we were kids that was our playground. There were little hideouts on the very top of it and at 9 and 10 we would be up there. Mental looking back.
Same with underage drinking.
Whenever I hear people saying that young people are drinking young these days I have to laugh. Kids were always drinking at a young age. Any underage discos I ever went to when young always had a field close by with a bottle of Old Cellar being passed around.0 -

When I was 16, in transition year, my class were going to France for some history trip. I had no real interest in going, but me and my mate decided to tell our parents that we wanted to go, so we gave them forms to sign and they gave us around €300 each which, as far as they knew, was paying for flights accommodation and a little spending money. We went to Amsterdam :pac:
It was just the two of us and we didn't tell anyone what we were doing because we were afraid that somebody would rat on us and fuck the whole thing up. They wouldn't believe us when they came back from France and we told them where we were but we let the pictures tell the story :P
I always felt guilty about taking the €300 from my old man and blowing it in Amsterdam but we told him about it a couple of years ago (when I was 19) and he was in knots!

Kids today aren't nuts, they are little cnuts! They do nothing dangerous or crazy, just stupid stuff like robbing.
Difference between the old days of Teenage Disco's and these days.
We had a little cider before going, kids these days are downing whole bottles to vodka and passing out. They are useless little cnuts!0 -

I was a total and utter nerd in school. The only time i "mitched" was in my Leaving Cert year...and i studied biology:o
Best school trip was to Achill Island in 1993. It was BALTIC!!! We went surfing and i swear to god we look feckin hyperthermic in the pics now.
The "cool gang" were doin this weird "fainting" game in their room. Theyd hold their breath and pass out...honestly it was ridiculously dangerous.But i wasnt "cool" so never got to do it. Errr...thank god when i look back now. One girl in our class had a heart condition!:eek:0 -
