Pure coincidence that these photos appear on the day that Dinner-jacket was going to do something mysterious.

Now that I have my feelings of this awful event transplanted in my mind again I don't mind the United States invading Iran. Go team.

ABC News obtained them this week among 2,779 pictures released in response to a Freedom of Information Act request.
    Yea, thats hardly coincidental timing.

These dramatic overhead photographs of the World Trade Centre attack...were taken by a New York police helicopter pilot as he searched in vain for people on the burning roofs.

That guy must have some lens on his camera to be able to get the close up of the lads carrying that priest who died on the ground!!

The news presenter on RTE this evening described them as still being shocking images, even after so long.

I wasn't shocked at all tbh, have I become completely desensitized?

Me and an american friend were talking about where is better, london or new york. i said id much prefer london despite the airlines not flying directly into the city centre. She said "too soon".

I asked her why. She said she lived in new york at the time and saw it all from a window. I got the line "you wearn't there". I began to get pissed off. I told her that it was 8 years ago. We never hear of the london bombings or the ones in madrid, ever. why do we have to be constantly reminded of this? she said it was the possibility that it could have been an inside job and nobody knows why it happened. its all very sensitive. she then said that "its not a case of america's problems being more important than everything else". i told her it was and it was why the rest of the world hates your country.

then kicked her. just to be sure.

They aren't that shocking, its closer up image of it burning and smoke surrounding the city, one more ground shot. Nothing new really, not to be insensitive or anything.

In fairness, as bad as the London and Madrid bombings were, they don't really compare to 9/11 in terms of both scale and impact.

    Gotta agree with that.

9/11 was a major event in history and will be remembered for years to come. London and Madrid were horrific aswell but they were no where near the same in terms of scale or effect.

Who's comparing? Life has been lost on all sides. I could easily say boo hoo, look at all the young American and British soldiers being sent home in body bags for nothing.

You feel aggrieved about the Iraqi loss, post a thread and I'll agree with you. This thread is more about the almost 3000 innocent people who died on 9/11

Also it was the first major terrorist attack on American soil since Pearl Harbour which is fairly significant as things go.

How dare you! Those 3000 were mostly white, English-speaking, westerners and therefore worth far more than your average global citizen.
