One of Britain's top fashion designers Alexander McQueen has been found hanged at his flat in Central London.

Alexander McQueen died just days after his mother's death

The 40-year-old was discovered at his property in Green Street, in London's West End.

Paramedics were called but he was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said his
death is not being treated as suspicious.

A spokeswoman for Mr McQueen said: "Mr McQueen was found dead this morning at
his home. We're devastated and I hope you understand that out of respect to his
family and his colleagues we're not going to be making any further statement."

    More follows...

Wow, that's a bit of a shock. He was one of my favourite designers, very talented.

    RIP.

Link ain't working, should I care he's dead, loike wtf is he?.

Maybe you shouldn't care, but a bit of compassion would be a nice gesture. Instead of posting on a grievance thread "loike wtf is he?".

    Ya, RIP (and stuff).

Dunno who he is, I feel sad that he died from suicide but apart from that I don't personally feel sorry for the chap himself. Awful for his family too.

    There.

    In before the Jan Moir...

EDIT- But seriously though, it's really sad. Always horrible to hear about a young death. :(

Oh look... "we need to be really sombre about someone we don't even know/didn't care about when alive/will forget about in five minutes" comments.

Suicide is obviously horrific but there's no need for insincere sanctimoniousness.

How could you? He is a tragic loss to the fashion world. We will have nothing to wear now :(

I first heard of Alexander McQueen around 1998. he had Gary Stringer from Reef among others modelling clothes for him. You'd think with a name like Alexander McQueen he'd be a total weirdo, but Gary stringer said he was a sound bloke.

    RIP.
I always liked the cut of his jib, once I found out when he got a big named commission, for say a suit, he would draw giant pictures of cocks inside the lining before sewing it up and selling it onto the clients - then laugh his ass off when he saw people wearing them :pac:

Aren't RIP threads supposed to be somewhere where people can express what they think about that person's death?

That should be the case, and everyone who doesn't have the decency to respect that by rambling on about other things should just GTFO in my opinion

Right. So a man who catches crabs dies and it's ok and manly to have an RIP thread for him.

I read that without thinking of Phil Harris.

I'm going to disillusion a lot of people here, but Steve and Alexander McQueen were not related. Steve came from Indiana, Alexander came from London.

His mother died a week ago Sky News were saying, they're presuming that's why he took his own life, that he couldn't cope without her. RIP.

I just don’t get why people click onto RIP threads of people they don’t know and type “who”? Is it that hard to type that persons name into Google and then maybe reply to the thread if you feel the need to pay your respects?

Or you could just keep away seeing as you don’t know them and couldn’t care less?
