Anyone want to set up our own country?

Ireland is gone to the dogs so let’s set up our own country. We could all pool our finances and buy an island off the coast then declare independence from the Republic.

We don’t have to declare independence initially but set up the infrastructure there first using green technology such as solar hot water, wind power and other renewable sources of energy. Obviously it would take a large initial investment but once we have established our little nation we can make our own rules and get things right for ourselves from the start.

    Lots of islands for sale…

Mutton Island, 20 miles (32 km) south of Galway Bay, Price upon request, 185 acres

Mor Island, Clew Bay, in County Mayo, Price GBP £800,000, Size 70 acres Location Clew Bay, County Mayo

Horse Island Size 161 acres Location 15 minutes from the village of Schull

So who’s in? Any laws you want implemented? Saw a TV program about a guy in England who tried to do this a while ago I’m sure we can pull it off.

You'll have to get your own country first but if you do we'll kick your ass and take you over further expanding our territory!

Cork has been a breakaway socialist republic for years, nobody's noticed.

It's not that we haven't noticed, but rather that we were hoping Cork would go away if we ignored it long enough.

Cork people can't see you if you don't move.

I'll chip in as long as I get to be Minister Of Partying Down, free donuts and bacon for everyone, and every Saturday will be known as DuggyDay!

We can’t just go around changing the names of days and electing the Minister of Partying Down (A vital position within any cabinet) without consultation with all our citizens. However you offer to provide free bacon and donuts for everyone will be looked on very favorably by the majority so you may just get your wish.

You would have to have a bigger army than the Irish army(easy). Also, after their ineviatable defeat, Wille ODea would probably call in the brits to back em up, not too easy to win a war with those.

Best bets are to take over an uninhabited caye in the carribean or an attol or smallish south pacific island.

Na if we bought the Island and decleared independece as long as we didnt attack Ireland they wouldnt do anything to us and England whould have no reason to get involved. Besides, you can still function like an independent nation without actually declaring independence, like Taiwan does!

Once we are established I believe an immigration policy like the one in the Ali-G movie would be best.

Two friends of mine who did a spot of travelling here in WA heard about this guy, and decided to go see what the story was. Basically he's in the outback and owns a station with like 1000acres or something, and he wanted to be independant from Australia. So he wrote a letter to the australian government declaring war for his own land. The thing is, he brought it in on the friday evening of a bank holiday weekend. And Australian Law states that if someone declares independance from them, if they do not get a reply in 3 days, they win. So, being a bank holiday weekend, he won and now has his own country.

Has his own border gate, passport stamp, flag etc. There's only 2 citizens, himself and his wife :)

(May possibly not be true, i cant find any info on it)

Why do we have to have it on an island where it feckin rains all the time?! I'm sick of the rain. Can we not buy a tiny island in the caribbean or somewhere nice? Even off the coast of Italy or Greece? They're not gonna complain anyway

I prefer things the way they are now, to live in country where women have rights, specifically the right to be ... sexay.

I can only assume there will be a "No Fat Chicks" clause in the constitution. And a clause that affords citizens the right to own bear arms. Need to be careful about the wording on that one though...;)
