They should wait until there is a bit of decent weather in may/june....not to make us look bad.

We might be waiting til next March  Google Earth only seems to use imagery without (much) cloud cover, I wonder how many times they had to wait for the satellite to pass over Galway before they could get some clear images :D

Google car seen going about it's business in Spiddal and Carraroe.

Also, there was short item about it on RnaG, repeating the above info.

This morning, on my way into school, we were caught in traffic outside the side entrance to NUIG on the Newcastle Road. I spotted a car with a huge black mast sticking out of its roof with some covered equipment on the top. The mast was at least 10ft tall, meaning that the total height of the apparatus (including the car) was nearly 20ft tall.

The car in question was a surprisingly unsuspicious bright red Opel Astra with the words "Google Maps" on the side. If you see a bright red car with a 10ft tall pole sticking out of it make sure to wave!

Did you see Marty Mcflys Delorean as well?

There is a guy I work with that spends a lot of his time on the phone to his girlfriend during work hours. He used to go outside and ring her from behind the trees in an attempt to hide what he was doing. Everyone knew as he would disappear for abot 20 minutes at a time. Clearly people are not impressed with his routine.
Anyway, this image popped up on Google Street Maps of the road outside my work building (see attahed). It's genius…… but at the same time you can see how it can be annoying if you're caught on camera.
We all had a laugh about it in the office and sent it around.

Catching an average working day in Galway - people parking illegally to go to mass.

Saw it too on Monday (8th) driving towards town on the road to Clifden just passed corrib village. But I don't think this is Google Street View, didn't they drive around already?

Maybe some of their snaps didn't come out and they had to come back to get some nice ones for Mammy Google. I saw the car in late June last year in Renmore

    Reportedly.

However we've not seen any evidence of Street View Galway yet, so probably only Google knows (and not their search engine either! ;) )

I saw the car outside NUIG the same day that ... umm, someone a few posts back. It occurred to me to wonder how we know the car is actually Google.

Think they may have removed the sticker. Someone mentioned to me that Google had done so and said the reason why but I can't remember, it was ages ago..

They're doing Connemara? That's nuts... any idea what routes they're doing? Thought they'd only do cities
I'd say they're do connemara just because it's such a well known tourist destination.

Probably need to get multiple passes to get good photos. It would be chancing it to hope to get good photos on jut one pass.

As far as I know, they're doing every road in the country, not just towns and cities.

They only record images when the weather is good (i.e. - not raining or not badly overcast). So if someone sees them at one particular location more than once, it could be that the weather wasn't good enough the first time they were there.
