Carpserv.exe taking 100% CPU Usage

Hi Guys, Need help for resolve this. I am running Winx XP Service Pack 2 this month just get into problem and notice the carpserv.exe taking 100 % cpu. I am using eircom home broadband using wireless network. so at the moment i just kill the process and go on. but i like to fix it. Any help . Thanks in advance.

Carpserv.exe seems to be a process associated with certain 56k modems. If you have broadband and no longer use the modem you could safely remove it and any other processes relating to the 56k modem from your start up options.

I have the same problem except it is the service.exe and system idle process that are using up all of the CPU. Any ideas - I have run Malware bytes (some viruses) and AVG ( no viruses ) and Clamwin (some viruses).

I too am running XP, but I think that it's service pack 3.
