Young'Uns & Oldies - After Hours ASL Thread

Can be kinda frustrating sometimes when posting replies not to know fellow AH'ers age amongst other things.

Can look foolish when someone mentions Metallica and you ask them were they at the gig at the Top Hat in '88 and it turns out they were'nt even born until the 90's :o

So lately I have just been assuming that everyone is a teen and not mentioning anything that gives away that I'm in the middle of my midlife crisis.

Sometimes I'm pleasantly surprised like the other night to find some people that I had down as teens talking about the Tripp To Tipp.

Be adding a Poll now for anyone that wants to take part as it would be nice if I (and others) had a place where they could pop back to anytime and check a users age etc before making a fool of ourselves.

So, do you find not knowing the rough age of a poster frustrating or does it not really matter to you?

Or are you a young'un and find all us oldies are ruining the place with all the talk of Classic Rock? :)

    Your ASL etc? 1725 votes

You mean Irish traveller or just a general vagabond? :)

Ireland is still there for the former.

This is definatly an important poll OUTLAWPETE. I'm always trying to guess the age of the ppl by their replies. Would be helpful to see how old we are in Boards year

In my early 20's. Not 20 and not quite 22.... A tenner for the first person to guess my age. :)

And an extra 20 to anyone who can guess my gender and where I'm from.

Bonus fiver for anyone who can tell me where I'm originally from.

I wonder why there's so many more men using internet forums than women? More straight people makes sense as there's more straights than gays/bis. More people under forty makes sense as older people tend to be less tech orientated. I don't understand how so few women use internet forums though.

Maybe some women just didn't vote on the gender thing cos they didn't want any male users perving on them

Maybe they pretend to be guys so they don't get hassled for Cyber Sex? :)

All the girls I know use the net as much as the blokes I know though.

    EDIT: Damn you Phasers again!!

I thought two posters were girls and made a fool of myself on threads with my replies over the years.

I have also replied to some woman with response only apt if they were men and had my wrist slapped for that also.

    Age is important though.

If you were in public you would say far different things to people 15 years younger or older than you than you would sayto your own age group.

There is a big difference between 'Roll It There Collete' and 'Roll It There Rosin' for instance :)

I like that we don't know ages here. I have a feeling that IRL a lot of people here wouldn't necessarity associate with me because I'm 18, but here it shouldn't matter.

Phasers, I was here two hours and I knew you were 18 :)

Sure, you hardly hide the fact.

Now even more know and I bet folks be still associating with ya.

    Excellent idea for a thread.

Could you add 'employment status', ie Public Sector, Private Sector, Un-emplo, self employ, student?

    Probably way too much.
