    Ive heard the 2.0 VW Passat (2005 / 2006) has a 6% failure rate.
So Im looking for a poss alternative.

Audi Auto A4 (non multitronics) Are they any good?

    Any other Diesels.

I need a car that going to last a long time.

You could probably get an 04 bmw 5 series for that price! especially when the new one is on sale in a month or two...

The DSG box from that period has a 6% failure rate, not the Passat itself. The 2l TDI is ok if you keep the oil changes regular and accept the DMF as a service item. It is a better, smoother, more efficient engine. No car is totally reliable. Just get it inspected by a good mechanic and be careful. The DSG is an excellent auto all told.

    Skoda Octavia VRS

170bhp, loads of torque, loads or remapping potential if required.

4 doors, huge boot and all the creature comforts you could want.

http://cars.donedeal.ie/for-sale/cars/1045645 - this one is a little over budget but theres plenty more out there.

Edit - scrap all that, just noticed you want Auto, sorry :(
