Metallic reflective buildup on Clay pot used for cooking

    Hi,
    dunno what forum to put this in, but I have a Tagine pot, it's made in morocco and there have been problems with these in the past in regards to lead.

    I have one which is showing a reflective metallic buildup on the inside, it's soft enough that a tissue when runned vigoursly will take it off, leaving a black residue on the tissue. Is it possible this is lead? Could it really be that heavily contaminated?

    And some pics of mine attached now. Material is very reflective even though it looks black in the photo.

    if in doubt - don't use it. You can buy slow cookers in ireland which may not be the real thing but do produce the same end results. Tagines with EU safety marks which don't contain lead residue can also be obtained.
