Bought an 06 BMW 320d - identical to my last one but touring version. I have noticed its drinking juice - at least the clock shows 20mpg avg, I haven't done enough miles in it yet to be sure.

    anyone here any ideas ?

that is really really low, is it auto and are you doing mostky short trips at present?

my old E90 averaged at mid 30's and that was for the everyday round trip from finglas to city centre and the odd trip afterwards. averaged approx 45 on motorways, this was after a remap too.

    MAF?
    Thermostat?
    Brakes binding?

Best bet is to get a code reader and look for fault codes.
