Two and a Half Men is the worst show ever!

Anyway, it should be called three men by now, the kid is at least 17

    I think it's great :D

That and The King of Queens would make a great night of TV.

-infinity+1! :D While i of course agree with ya that most comedies these days are hogwash (especially yank ones), seriously, Charlie Sheene is the single woodenest sitcom actor ive ever seen, the plot and storyline are non-existent, and the whole show seems to exist to portray that sheene tw@t as some sort of (borderline paedophile) lothario-type figure....utter gunk!
But that's why it's a comedy, not a drama. In my opinion stories in comedies are always exaggerated so as to be funny. Comedy is the priority, story is secondary. Even take a classic example in Fraiser (another comedy I love). When Daphne threw a party and the bed crashed through the roof, Fraiser said "Welcome to the family", when in reality he'd be saying "Holy cr4p, the bed just fell through the f***ing ceiling!"

That's why their called 'comedies', not 'dramas'

    OK.

Every single episode follows the same format to the letter...Murder, Forensic analysis that is so far from the actual reality of how Forensic examinations take place it's almost cartoonish.

Add in Characters with no depth or acting range, no character development thrown in for good measure.

Then we have the over complex storyline, so stupidly complex that it does not even make sense...it's sole purpose is to make the viewer work out who the culprit is and if the viewer does this then it was from nothing more then a guess (sorry viewer you didnt think it through like you thought)

Package it all up with Bruckheimers production company who give us UBER glossy graphics, special effects and vibrant colours which are mainly used to memorize people into not focusing on the fact that the story is about a midget who hung himself using a scissor lift wheelchair.

The smugness, OHHHHH the humanity. Knitting their clues together, with their shades on, prodding at evidence with pens while on their haunches, the woman is always wearing a pantsuit....

I feel kinda ill at this point, would you like me to continue?

    It's for sheep
    :D

As much as I love CSI, I can't disagree with any of that

Also you forgot to mention that you'll usually be able to figure out who the murderer is because that's usually the guy one of them talks to for longer than anyone else ;)

That's very true. And especially with shows like Fraiser, you can see the punchline coming down the track from miles away but you still watch it and think it's funny when it finally comes.

Even after all I say CSI is still watched en-masse so TV companies are going to take a leaf here and a leaf there from their book. This is why I believe this show has been the spawn of the plethora of dog doo on a stick we see being flung at us today.

There's at least three things responsible for all the crap on television these days:

The 1990 Broadcasting Act in the UK: it allowed ITV franchises to be issued in a blind auction with little or no assessment of programme quality

Sky: started the craze of importing cheap, tacky crap.

Digital television (probably related to #2): Too many channels, viewing audience too diluted. Hence teleshopping, "text and tits" shows and MTV not showing any music.

I have a clip from a Channel 4 news report in 1988 on the impending launch of the Sky Television service. Peter Sissons commented "We'll examine his (Murdoch's) claims, and the fears that more, may mean worse." He was spot on.

There was one episode of Two and a Half Men I saw, in it Charlie was trying to murder his wife with hilarious results. Classic family comedy.

Personally I think its 99% mind-rotting drivel. But that's just my opinion. If you like it, I've got no problem with you watching it.....

The stuff irish tv stations are coming up with the past while is shocking, youd swear the producers dont have a braincell between them. Also, sick of that cop programme on sky every evening, its an absolute wreck the head, your mans tone is just ridiculous.

There's a surprising amount of absolutely quality programming. The problem is actually getting it. I haven't watched TV at all since I've come to Ireland, so I have no idea what's showing around here, and I didn't watch any TV when I was in the UK or at home.

But, through the magic of the internet, there is a lot to be found. If you want some seriously good shows, try some of the following:

    Penn & Teller: Bullshít!
    Weeds
    Flight of the Conchords
    Skins
    Pushing Daisies
    Dead Like Me
    Wonderfalls
    IT Crowd
    Big Bang Theory
    Arrested Development
    Entourage
    Reaper
    QI: Quite Interesting
    The Wire
    Dexter
    How I Met Your Mother
    My Name is Earl

Then the classics like Frasier, Father Ted, etc.

The collection above has incredible writing (or, in the case of QI, is just plain interesting and very funny) and while the laugh tracks on How I Met Your Mother, IT Crowd and Big Bang Theory may deter you, they're a lot better than 99.9% of the stuff shown in North America at the moment.

If you have a sillier sense of humour there's always Trailer Park Boys and Corner Gas, but the comedy in them is a bit.. different, since they're Canadian.

I don't watch House, Glee, 30 Rock or Chuck, but apparently they're fairly good and have been well reviewed.

There really is a lot to watch.. you just need to be willing to turn off the actual television set and do a bit of digging around.

By the way, people: TWO AND A HALF MEN IS SHÍTE. Why do so many Irish people like it?! Charlie Sheen is a twat.

    Drawn Together.
Funniest thing on telly bar none.
It will be sadly missed, but movie coming, that'll ease the pain.
Any show that has a pig named Spanky Ham on it has got to be good.

Jaysis, some of the RTE stuff is pure muck alright. Youre bad self? Seriously, whats that about

Raw? Liked the first series, but this mucksavage cop blackmailin the chef and gettin away with it? put me right off

Now they've got the Cosmetic Surgery Show. FFS! Next it'll be fuckin Liver idol, or organ transplant factor where you can vote to see who wins the organs. Reality TV gone bonkers.

    Whats good imo:
    Glee
    Shameless
    V (Where did it go?)
    Flash Forward
    Greys Anatomy
    Dispatches
    Life on Mars USA

Can anyone out there who watchs and loves Two and a Half Men mention a few moments or episodes that you thought were brilliant or you just thought were great; or your favorite moments even.

I've watched a fare few episodes of it and to be honest the only thing that I thought was slightly ok was when the stalker girl next door set up the hate website and then charlie goes to apologise to the girls he never called back and so on and so forth.

I really can't think of anything memerable that happened. All I can think of is charlie rides some young one or charlie gets annoyed by the young fella.

Couldn't agree more. Even if you don't have access to the internet or broadband, you can always buy secondhand box sets. A lot of people buy a box set and sell it on after watching it. The noughties was easily the best decade for TV dramas (mostly american), with HBO being the front-runner. The amount of quality documentaries is also endless.

Obviously with a few hundred channels on Sky most of it is going to be crap. But we never had it so good - not just availability wise, but quality wise too. I'm starting the HBO drama In Treatment later. The third series of the Australian drama Underbelly is also starting in a few weeks. I also have four seasons of Battlestar Galactica to watch. Not a huge fan of sci-fi, but heard this is excellent so I'll give it a go. I honestly can't keep up..

Scrubs isn't on TV at the moment, not Irish TV anyway

It's on E4, close enough. Used to like Scrubs, quality has gone down though.

Also, lol at all the tv snobbery in this thread. Don't like it? Don't watch it. It's not ****e because you hate it.

Our viewing habits may have changed (torrents, Sky+) but I think it's one of the best times in TV history, particularly for dramas - just stay away from all reality TV. Can't wait for The Pacific either, very odd that Sky Movies will be showing it. A few examples of what's out there right now:

    Entourage
    Dexter
    Mad Men
    Lost
    The Daily Show
    South Park
    True Blood
    Californication
    Friday Night Lights
    Mock the Week
    Big Bang Theory
    How I Met Your Mother
    Shameless
    Misfits
    Inbetweeners
