What do you think of the content of TV today?
Personally I think its 99% mind-rotting drivel. But that's just my opinion. If you like it, I've got no problem with you watching it.....

It hasn't been the same since they got rid of 'Why Don't You?'.

    Some bad some good.

I like FlashForward, Lie to Me, Bones, 24 and NCIS, they are good shows. I don't like Lost, Desperate Housewhores, SATC or The Hills, because it's utter ****e.

    It's a mixed bag really!

The pickings in the last year have definitely been crap.

Me suspects the Network Execs are wary of gambling money on anything new and edgy.

Another season of LOST? Really NBC?!

    There's some alright stuff.
HBO dramas are good, BBC docs I like, Dispatches,Newsnight,C4 News stuff like that.
I'd say 99% drivel was a bit harsh.

Satellite TV, Computers and the Japanese are all to blame in some way I feel.

Personally I like the odd film, documentaries (tho' there's only so much wildlife ya can watch, but respect to D Attenborough et al). Historical stuff and dramas with a good story do it for me

Absolutely catmalodeon, particularly daytime UTV and TV3, like animated versions of a shelf-load of wimmins' magazines. Mindless celebrity trash.

I love television, BBC 4 in particular is a great channel.

My estimation of television has gone downhill rapidly since The Sopranos and Frasier stopped being made.

Nowadays, the only programmes that I believe are being made that are of any quality whatsoever are South Park, Mad Men, Mock The Week (although that has slipped a bit since Frankie Boyle left) and Attenborough documentaries on BBC. And then sports coverage.

Apart from that, television has descended into mindless trash that will turn this generation into zombies. For shame...

I barely watch TV, when I do it's usually a movie or documentary

I think Bruce Springsteen sumed it up perfectly........."57 channels and nothing on"

CSI is at the core of all that is wrong, sick, corrupt with TV these days. Thank you for this Bruckheimer you cnut.

Just like books, music and films. You have to sift through a lot of mind-numbing garbage to get to the good stuff.

TV is pretty crap these days. I miss shows like the Krypton Factor and the Crystal Maze. Here in Oz at the mo, they have The Biggest Loser followed by So You Think You Can Dance 5 TIMES A WEEK!!!

I think being 99% shit is probably an inherent part of any art form/creative pursuit.

There's about 5 programmes that I'll try to catch.

    Qi
    Two and a Half Men
    Family Guy
Flash Forward is bearable, but it's not as good as it looked from the first 2 episodes
    Frasier
    The Simpsons
    CSI

If I need background wallpaper I'll stick on Voyager or maybe Mock the Week.

The problem is that 99% of the above are repeated ad-nauseum, so you can't allocate time to watch them, or bother rushing home to see them - you don't know if it'll be a repeat.

So yeah, 99% of it is pure ****e; even more so if you were to include all of the channels that Sky imposes on the EPG lists that no-one watches.

I'd go a along with that list, just substituting Flash Forward for Scrubs and NCIS for CSI.

Two and a Half men? You stuck that in there for a joke right?
I can onbly watch about 30 seconds of that before vomiting blood.
The best thing that's been on in recent years has got to be Drawn Together.
I'd need nappies to watch that show, cause I'm constantly pissing myself.
And I will never get over Bionic Woman being cancelled, she was hot.
Does anyone else notice that the gap in volume between the program and the ads is growing ever wider?
My telly's volume goes from 0 to 100, during the program it's usually around 20-30, during the ads I have to turn it down to around 6-7 or get my head blown off...
That alone is enough reason to cancel Sky, get a freeview box and just download all the telly and movies I want to watch from the internet.
    Who's with me?

-1, it's one of the few comedies I can watch without throwing the remote at the TV, I love it

Bring back Star Trek, original cast and crew.
Bones and Scotty would have to be computer animations, but with today's technology...

-infinity+1! :D While i of course agree with ya that most comedies these days are hogwash (especially yank ones), seriously, Charlie Sheene is the single woodenest sitcom actor ive ever seen, the plot and storyline are non-existent, and the whole show seems to exist to portray that sheene tw@t as some sort of (borderline paedophile) lothario-type figure....utter gunk!

    OK.

Every single episode follows the same format to the letter...Murder, Forensic analysis that is so far from the actual reality of how Forensic examinations take place it's almost cartoonish.

Add in Characters with no depth or acting range, no character development thrown in for good measure.

Then we have the over complex storyline, so stupidly complex that it does not even make sense...it's sole purpose is to make the viewer work out who the culprit is and if the viewer does this then it was from nothing more then a guess (sorry viewer you didnt think it through like you thought)

Package it all up with Bruckheimers production company who give us UBER glossy graphics, special effects and vibrant colours which are mainly used to mezmorize people into not focusing on the fact that the story is about a midget who hung himself using a scissor lift wheelchair.

The smugness, OHHHHH the humanity. Knitting their clues together, with their shades on, prodding at evidence with pens while on their haunches, the woman is always wearing a pantsuit....

I feel kinda ill at this point, would you like me to continue?

    It's for sheep
