    Hydrogen is less dense than helium, not the other way around. It's just not used anymore in airships as it can easily combust.

    Opps. Thanks partyatmygaff!

    "Why is helium used in airships instead of hydrogen?"

    It is less dense?

    Next Q; What is / Define / Explain;

    Density
    Chemical Reaction
    Fertilisation
    The density of a substance is the mass of 1cm3 of it
    Chemical reaction is when a substance is changed ?? (want to correct me there?)
    Fertilization is the fusion off the male and female gamete which then forms an egg

    Oh yeah, since a lot of these questions are science, what level is everyone doing (higher/ordinary) ?
    I'm doing higher but will probably drop down after the pre's

    What is the difference between a motor nerve and a sensory nerve?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,419 ✭✭✭WanderingSoul

    Motor Nerve; carries impulses from the CNS to muscles.

    Sensory Nerve; carrie impulses from sensory organs to the CNS.

    Next Question; What is / Explain / Define;

    1. Dispersion
    2. Compound
    3. Food Chain

    I'm doing higher level.

    Awesome :D
    Dispersion is a method seeds use to disperse their seeds?:pac:
    A compund is formed when two or more elements combine together chemically
    Food chain is a way to show how organisms are linked by what they eat

    State what a catalyst is and give an example

    Higher but im seriously considering pass.. But then i'm mucked up coz I need a higher for LC and I'll be doing a bit in collage, so I cant really =/ Well thats if I stick to my for now collage plan :pac:

    Yep and a catalyst is a substance which speeds up a chemical reaction but is not used in the reaction itself. Eg; manganese dioxide

    Next Q; What is / Explain / Define;

    1) Electric Current
    2) Covalent Bond
    3) Food Web

    A catalyst alters the rate of a chemical reaction without being used up in the reaction itself e.g. Manganese dioxide

    You got there first.

    Next Q. Sticking to the science theme:
    What are the seven characteristics of living things?

    Covalent bonding is the sharing of electrons between atoms =/ All I can anwser....

    1) Electric Current
    2) Covalent Bond
    3) Food Web

    1)the flow of electricty???:confused:
    3)number of food chains interlinked

    And your question, blue?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,962 ✭✭✭jumpguy

    Current Q; What is / Explain / Define;

    1) Electric Current
    2) Covalent Bond
    3) Food Web
    Current = Volts x Resistance. I'm not sure if a definition is needed tbh...
    A covalent bond is two atoms sharing pairs of electrons.
    A food web is a connected link of animals that eat each other, starting with a producer, moving onto a consumer, etc. Not really sure how you'd define it. :confused:

    Question (since bluejay didn't ask):
    What 3 conditions are nessicary for germination?
    How many electrons in the 2nd full outer shell of an atom?
    List the chemical equation for the preperation of oxygen.

    And your question, blue?

    Meh, I hit a blank.

    Anyway, next:
    Define a lever.(that took me ages to think of)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,419 ✭✭✭WanderingSoul

    A lever is a rigid body that can rotate around a fixed point.

    Next Q; Define / Explain / What is;

    1) Force
    2) Distillation
    3) Geotropism

    3.the growth of a plant in response to gravity

    What's up with you and these Explain/define/What is questions!!!!!?????

    1.a force that opposes the sliding motion of a body when it is in contact with another.
    2.the splitting of a compound by passing water through it
    3.the growth of a seed(?)

    Have you completely finished chemistry and physics?
    Oh and don't the lab books need to be corrected a good bit in advance before June?
    That's not good with pre's coming up/starting . . .
    Why don't you do it yourself? Biology isn't that difficult IMO,
