Listening to Godspeed is an effort at times, it gets very strange. It's distracting me though, so I don't mind.

Yeah I've seen that video, it's great the way they make it sound so similar to the studio version. The drummer's energy is great I agree but he's not actually in the band I believe, him and the synth player are musicians that play with the band on tour and in the studio.

This is one of those songs you have no idea how it didn't become a classic. Or at least how it didn't become more famous than it is. I remember how the brilliance of this song crept up on me, leaving me with that 'omfg this is unreal' sensation one gets every so often. So ebullient and a melody to die for.

Back of the net! Yeah, it seems The Go-Betweens weren't / aren't that well known. I read somewhere that they were the first band since the Beatles to possess two talented songwriters that, in a Lennon/McCartney rivalry sort of way, yielded such a plethora of amazing results (although Husker Du did the same..). I don't have any of their albums yet but check out Lee Remick, it's similarly good.

Didn't one of their songwriters die recently enough? I think I read that in Q magazine a few years back.
