Anyone had any luck with private swaps/part exchanges?

Having gone from doing 8k miles in two months to doing 2k miles in two months, and having entered the 25+ insurance bracket - I'm considering swapping/trading the diesel privately to get something petrol and more fun.

Anyone had any luck with swaps, or taking a part exchange+cash?

Not going to sell, as I wont get enough to not feel like I've been gouged and I love the car too much to live with that!

I've considered swapping my sporty car for a diesel funnily enough seeing as my mileage has started to increase! :)

EDIT - but havent actually made any efforts to do it yet!

I've seen people advertising cars on adverts and listing what they might take in p.ex, but never actually seen it happen.

    Tis why I'm asking!

Your username might hold the answer:D.
I have taken part exchanges a few times with no trouble.I Fully inspect the part ex before the exchange.
    Never did a straight swap.

    No!
I've a car on sale on adverts and have stated an interest in another car I'd be willing to trade for. I'm going to look at a car on sunday and the seller is looking for the same car as mine, there's a bit of a price difference and he can't afford it:rolleyes:

    Yes!

Did a straight swap on adverts.ie last year.

Hmmm, I'm looking to get rid of my van.. This sort of thing sounds perfect but TBH I think it might look a bit dodgy..Especially with a transit.... Is Adverts.ie expensive.. Was gonna advertise with autotrader and the likes but I cant justify spending the type of money they're asking and probably not getting any calls with the way the market is...

FREE... Brilliant, will have to get on that tomorrow.. I just saw a few posts that people got given out to on for trying to sell stuff so I presumed that one would have to pay for adverts.ie.. Now I can see why they got given out to.. Thanks
