well would only be needed for occasional mart days (towing 12x6 box) and the odd voyage into field, driving a pajero now but with me driving too and from work every day it s a waste and not required so was thinking of getting rid and getting a car and looking for an old jeep to leave a round the yard.

terrano and old troopers look the cheapest, alot look knackered though, was looking on ebay in uk and some nice passenger terranos pretty cheap but then you have the bigger road tax to content with i guess

Had one for 4 years, bought new. Put 130,000 miles on the clock. Not an awful lot of towing or off road. Didn't cost a penny outside normal run of mill servicing.
The Landcruiser club, generally look down on them, and indeed they wouldn't be equals, BUT, perfectly functional for average user.

That's my experience in any case.

I'm driving landcruiser now, and to tell you the truth, the difference between the two, aint worh a whole lot of a man's hard earned euros!!!

you are doing a share of driving in a 4x4 so, the same as myself, expensive yokes to keep in diesel, the arse really seems to have fallen out of commercials at the mo, no one wants to trade them, not VAT registered either which also goes against you.

I'm now VAT reg, and driving commercial to cut the cost. Also have cut the milage big time. Thing is once you get used to driving 4X4, it's almost impossible to go back to driving a car. When I drive the wifes car, I fell like my arse is dragging along the road :(

I've just had a lend of one for a few days from a mate of mine.

170k on the clock but in fairly decent condition, I dont think it's cost him anything special in the hundred thousand or so miles he's had it.

it's a bit rolly and bouncy for my tastes and didnt feel great towing either.

I'd go for a 3.1 trooper over it myself.

i drove one when i was working on the roads. I thought it was excellent. Smooth but able for the rough ground. Comfortable too. But, i was only driving it for a month or so.

id say the 3.1 trooper would be a more capable jeep especially for towing a 12x6 trailer fully loaded with cattle .

had a 02 one and not great for towing and wouldnt put with with much farm abuse like the troopers, shoguns or landcruisers and give gearbox trouble too, wouldnt let a nissan on my street again, 3.1 trooper hard on diesel, better off going for a landcruiser as can be picked up cheap enough now.
