does Eurosport not have an online viewing option in ireland? Eurosport player?

On the german site for Eurosport, they have streaming coverage of 8 courts live without commentary so a bit of a chance that he would be covered there.

A fiver per month to watch it though so wont be reporting on whether he's on or not.

Maybe on line they do but not off sky digital :(

You can't seriously compare a Grand Slam Tennis event to a UEFA club competetion / League of Ireland or European athletics meet . The only event up listed that is in same league is the Olympics / Worlds - and even some of the sports in that are questionable. People do only gain interest once they see people competing in the big events but thats life. Fair play to Louk, a fantastic result. He has a good chance against Isner now. Hard Luck to Conor too.

I think you've misread my post. I never mentioned 'a European athlectics meet'. I think you should direct your attention to people using 'bandwagon'.
Regarding 'Olympic questionable sports' there's a recurring debate about wealthy tennis players competing in the Olympics.

Yes, they do, and it will be possible to watch Louk tonight - if you've got broadband. Court 8 is one of the six courts with TV cameras. It's unlikely any TV station will switch their coverage to Court 8 when Louk is on (although, maybe British EuroSport, you never know, depending on what else is going on) but you can watch whatever court you want live at any time with the ES Player. A one-month subscription costs a fiver. Also, all matches are saved and can be viewed on demand so even if you're not staying up you could watch it replayed tomorrow.

This site could be worth trying to see Louks match for free. I've used it for ages, and its very reliable.
It lists Louks match as one that will have livestream so def be worth a try.

His match is at 4am, both too late to stay up for, and too early to wake up for!! Pity as I'd love to have seen it.
Hopefully for those who can, that link will show it.

Unlucky to lose the first set. Not over by a long shot, and he doesn't look too out of his depth either.

5-4 in the second, Louk has really come into this. if he can sneak a break and take the set, anything is possible.

Isner didn't look like he wanted to come out at 6-5... feeling the effects of his 5 setter yesterday?

Hopefully Sorensen can take the tie breaker... he is the better player at the minute.

can't see Sorensen coming back from this now 2 sets down, but on the bright side he's putting in a very good performance.

Yeah, that second set could have gone either way, mountain to climb now.

Still a great performance, though. Sorensen doesn't look like a man in his first Grand Slam.

You're probably right, although Isner looks to be having issues with the heat. Slow up off his chair everytime and just generally looks uncomfortable. If Sorensen can pip this set anything could happen...

Isner having a medical timeout now.
Could sorensen go through by default?

Just wanted more breathing/fluid time i'd say... he didnt seem to be hitting the ball any differently beforehand. Hit a couple of powerful forehands in the previous game actually.

Yep, if he's going to do something, needs to be done now! 5-5 in the 3rd.

'Louks fans in the stands, let me hear you clap your hands...' - lol

Unlucky Louk. Gave a very good account of himself and it wasn't as easy for Isner as the scoreline suggests.

The height difference when they both came into the net was unbelievable.

Couple of hours sleep before Murray gets on court...

couple minutes walk from work here now and I'm at the stadium!! :p

just saw the stats at the end there.

    Points won:
    Isner - 99
    Sorensen - 94

So it was a 5 point difference. I suppose is when ya get the points rather than how many you get, thats important!

Any one have any idea wher louk's ranking will go now??

He will move up to about 205 (from 284). If he had beaten Isner he would have been ranked around 178. He should improve his ranking by the end of the year though as he was injured for a period last year and doesn't have many points to defend.

Is the ranking table updated continously or are there set dates the table comes out?

Will the tournaments he plays in change significantly? I read in the "Louk Sorensen" thread that after some succes last year he will play in the 1st round of tournaments he previously had to qualify for.
Basically, will he move up a standard of tournament because of his current ranking?

The Isner - Sorensen tie was a second round game, Sorensen had beaten an opponent 170 places above him in the 1st round on Tuesday morning.

But you're right, its good to have Irish representatives in Tournaments Irish people have heard of.

The ranking table is updated every week so the current tournaments ranking points will be added while last years tournaments points will be deleted. Louk Sorensen for instance currently has 154 points but will have earned 70 points for the Aus Open so when the points are updated after the aus Open he will have 224 points.
There are 3 tiers of tournaments---Grands Slams and ATP events for the top players (winner would get +/- 500 points for winning an ATP event---then there are challenger events for players outside the top 60 or 70 (up to about 250) where the winner would get about 70 points and then finally there are Future tournaments for players below 250 (winner may get 10-15 points). A player can pick his best 20 tournaments per year to find his ranking. So it all really means that Sorensen will still be playing Challenger events but he wont have to prequalify for them cos of his ranking ...

I hope Louk's performance will kick-start the interest in tennis in Ireland. Would be interesting to find any hidden talent around the country.:)
