Yeah, I'm a ba$tard for taking out planes. I often knock the harrier out before it kills anyone :D

Upgraded to a 30Mb line this week and online is just as bad as ever.

Went on MW1 and the difference is literally astounding, games are found instantly, no real lag issues, hit detection isn't much of an issue etc. Then back to MW2 and it is attrocious, whoever is behind the P2P matchmaking in this game should have their fingers cut off to the knuckle so they can't type another line of code.

I hope you didn't upgrade to a 30mb line for playing games. Or a 20mb line. Or a 10mb line. Or a 6mb line. Considering a 3mb dsl line can host a Mw2 match easily.

No I upgraded to rip copyrighted material off the internet faster :)

On an Eircom 7mb line with fully open NAT I was getting into games with 90-100ms ping times, on 30mb it seems to be 40ms or so. I'm going to go to a wired connection over the weekend which should improve things, but it still doesn't take away from the fact that IW have made an even bigger mess of the P2P matchmaking this time around.

While I'm at it, could we please stop the tit-for-tat discussion on what is or what is not a 'simulation'? It's adding nothing to the thread and is off-topic. Cheers.

I'd long given up on the Harrier/attack chopper as they were too fragile and people had become too quick at taking them out; but last night the Pavelow joined them. Had two called in and both were knocked out almost immediately.

If you take your time with the harrier you can catch two to three people with the initial strike. Any kills after are a bonus. I also make extra sure to nade into buildings and push forward fast as peoples instinct seem to be hide when they come out.

Maybe dragging it off topic but has anyone else noticed the appearance of hackers in CoD:MW2 (pc) lately?

I'm fairly convinced I've seen at least two people using aimbots in the past few nights. First time around, demolition on highrise, I didn't really notice at first, well until he got me a few times and the other players asked one guy to leave. It was pretty obvious from the killcam that he was getting one ridiculous kill after another - it showed his gun jumping about, single shots - all headshots and the player clocking up huge unanswered scores. If it happened once you wouldn't give it a second thought, but the twice, three times... Then over and over until most people left the game! I know there are some really skillful players out there but this wasn't skill.

So why would you bother? The multiplayer game runs through steam so its pretty useless with your steam account disabled is it not? What is the point?

This was a very large part of the argument of removing Admins and servers. VAC is a useless system, all Steam games relied on a combination of VAC, Admins and punkbuster to keep servers relatively clear. When a blatant aimbot like that came on if there wasn't a Admin on you would leave and go somewhere else. If there was he would receive a permanent ban from the server and everybody would play on happy.

And people do bother, there are plenty of people playing games who are so competitive that they will use hacks in order to gain a advantage over other players. If I said to you "I have a way to top every game and hit tenth prestige with no effort" you can't say you wouldn't be interested. Its only a little step then to installing the hack.

Following on from this, I decided to switch to a wired connection on my PS3 from wireless as by all accounts, the wireless receiver in the ps3 is absolutely shite.

It has made zero difference to the games, still lagging and major hit detection issues. Surreal really, was getting 20mb d/l and 2.5 u/l earlier and was lagging in almost every game, with < 10 ms ping times when pinging heanet.ie from a computer sitting beside the PS3 and on wireless.

    Nice one IW.

Having the same problems on the pc version on a 30meg line. This game really is a ****ing sham, im seriously considering taking a massive crap in the Mw2 dvd box and mailing it back to the **** that decided that a "p2p" system would be a good idea.

Still, ive got the beta of bad company from next week onwards :)

Whats annoying me mostly, is being dumped into games no one else wants to play. Yesterday, I searched for a Domination game 6 times before getting into a pre-game lobby. The other 5 were mid-game and the team I joined were being destroyed in each and every game.

Yeah this is unbelievably frustrating. Was playing TDM this evening, searched for a game and was dumped into one where my team were losing 3400-700, left and re-searched, got dumped into the next game where they were losing 1500-300 and so on. Very offputting, but the worst thing about it is leaving a game full of **** players, searching for a new one and being put right back into the same game with your score reset. Ffs, I wish IW would learn that if someone leaves a game it means they do not want to play it, especially since they feel the need to ask you if you're sure you want to leave.

Anti, IW have an office on Parnell Street and I'd be highly tempted to go take a dump on the reception desk and stick a "Fuck P2P" flag into the top of it.

I know how ye feel about the IWNet side of things, couple of us play regularly on the PC and its nothing short of horrendous waiting....then getting kicked....then reconnecting...then one of us gets disconnected...back to lobby... etc you know the drill.
It got so annoying we changed our steam ID's to "IWNet is ****", "IWNet rapes puppies" etc to highlight our dis-satisfaction. Has recieved some positive comments from other gamers, but it all messing aside they really need to sort the **** out.
Also, the censor the word "steam" in your ID but not IWNet which thought was odd..

The Mission is supposed to be simulation of War, Spec Ops is simulation of War....Online should be an extension of that.

MW3 will be right up your street.

How about we head out the night before for a rectum burning hot curry and a load of beer, should make the clean-up all the worse for them.

This Game is not in anyway a War sim if you want to play one try Operation Flashpoint 2 , it is pure arcade run around and shot people die respawn etc. The Hacks are really getting bloody annoying as is the speed glich with the care packages on PC maps i'm faced with a good few of these idiots in each map and also the range on the knife is just stupid . Also on the camping point only time ill do it is if i'm sniping and i mainly play Domination.

I'm not sure we can blame IW for those PS3 problems tbh. I'm on an 8Mb line from TalkTalk and have zero lag 99 times out of 100 and that's using the PS3 wirelessly.

If a 30Mb line isn't solving your problem, it must be something to do with the connection, a faulty line or a faulty PS3? Are you on NAT open or restricted?

Another thing you might try is upgrading your router firmware. I hadn't upgraded in over 2 years (:pac:) and my connection kept dropping, my PS3 wouldn't connect wirelessly and I had constant lag. Upgraded the firmware and all of a sudden, no lag, seamless wireless connection and no drops :)

Try your PS3 on another net connection (i.e. a friend or neighbour) establish whats at fault. And deffo upgrade your router like r3nu4l said

No more discussion on whether the game is or isn't a war simulator...thanks. Please stay on-topic :)

It's a brand new and updated router and I'm having no problems on any game except for MW2. Computer is getting 22Mb d/l and 2.5 u/l wireless, PS3 is getting 12.5 d/l and 1.5 u/l and that's wired, so the hardware in it can't be great. How and ever, as I said everything else is perfect except for MW2.

    Cheers for the suggestions though.

The only other thing you could try is a tracert to a iwnet ip. Not sure how your going to get one though. Personally, i dont think the problem is on your end, or the isp's as you said its the only game with problems, i would blame IW.

It looks like Activision and IW do not care about you once they have your money ;)
