Do they really matter? This needs to be looked at from a spiritual point of view and not branded troll by ego protection mechanisms.

At the end of the day, boards is all full of egos and opinions, you rarely find people who can give you advice when you really need it.

I suppose the Vatican's opinion doesn't matter either if thats the case, they just attack Avatar because its simple message threatens their organisations survival.

OMG, did I just make an opinion of something?

All this just because some old men in funny hats attacked your fanboy movie?

Get back to Pandora where everyone is one with their neighbours and opinions are lillies floating down a stream by moonlight.

And also boards is full of meaningless crappy insults where egos route out conflict with one another.

Assholes are like opinions, they're full of ****.
    Opinion-spouting assholes are crap people
Assholes and opinions are what everybody wants
Everybody's opinion is like an asshole.... crap and brown.

Opinions are like assholes, everybody's got one.

Yay! I got it, finally. :)

Route out, a trolling post will make someone respond to said opinion. Thread detrails, insanity ensues. In short, After Hours normality.

Hmmm, good question. I suppose my ego didn't say that sentence, it was more my being than anything else.

What the purpose of this thread is not to troll... i just thought it would be moved into the "spiritual" section by now.

But I was taken aback by the fact that the Vatican would make such a comment about a movie. Its so obvious that they have a huge ego to protect and will stop at nothing to protect it.

OK so, then don't add anything to another persons thread in future, if you don't have anything to say about it.

If your opinion is not forceful, and you wish to simply express yourself to others and let them know what you think of a matter without pushing your opinion onto others, then it's fine.

Everyone has an opinion and is entitled to one...

    *EDIT*

4000th milestone post... woop woop woop. :)

Its a thread, it it supposed to evolve, there doesn't have to be a direction in it. Do you have a chat with your friends in the bar and in the middle of a conversation say "I wonder where this conversation is going?"

Can I ask you, what you got from the time you invested asking your curious question about the direction the thread was taking, as opposed to reading its subject?

is it in 3D over here?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8,594 ✭✭✭bonerm

    2D version is fine also.

Everyone has an opinion and is entitled to one...

Agreed, but this cultural acceptance is lost on boards.ie some how. This works in a face to face discussion, but online it seems that the egos identity is protected behind closed doors, thus insults, forceful opinions are rife on it.

Worth seeing it in 2D first... save 3D for step up experience :D

To answer the OP's question most people's opinions don't matter.
The exception is where a person can demonstrate some knowledge or insight into a topic that the majority of people don't have.
In a way thats a circular definition but its the best I can come up with now.

Of course psy studies show that people rarely change their minds on a issue even when given lots of good evidence to do so. But thats not quite the same thing.
