I watched the first 3 ep. of the new season.....i just *don't* get this show?....it's not funny.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55,669 ✭✭✭✭Mr E

Have you been watching since the start of season 1, or have you done what you did with Supernatural and jumped in the deep end with a well established show and tried to figure it out after more than 80 episodes have aired (35 in Chucks case)?

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 21,634 ✭✭✭✭Richard Dower

Isin't 3 eps enough to say if a show is funny or not?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 44,630 ✭✭✭✭Basq

No.. not when you pick 3 episodes when there's a full 32 before it to establish a storyline / relationships etc.

There's no point in just starting to watch a show 3 series in and expect to "get it"..

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 21,634 ✭✭✭✭Richard Dower

Well *i* didn't find it funny, i'm not gonna sit through 35 eps. to come back with the same opinion.

Maybe it doesn't appeal to your humour.. but there's a good reason it's quite an established cult show and is one of the most enjoyable shows on TV (and I've seen a LOT of TV shows in my time).

You might not think so.. but plenty of others do.

But cementing an opinion on a show only having watched 3 episodes into it's third season is just plain silly.

Maybe watch the first few episodes in season 1 and make up your mind.

Don't bother - if it isn't a show 13 year old girls like, Richard won't like it...

I'm putting spoiler tags on comments about what has already aired in a thread with 'spoilers' in the the title. It's confusing and means genuine spoilers will get uncovered unintentionally.
Well condisidering the next episode is called
Operation Awesome, I'm assuming that means he is not dead and that they'll rescue him in the next episode

There is also a clue in the fact that if he was dead it would be way more effective to have ended the episode by telling us he died. Traditionally when a show ends on an is he or isn't he dead cliffhanger, he's not dead.

But my post had a information about the next episode - hence the spoiler tags... I don't get what you're saying...

Great to have it back and loved all three episodes. 'Coz everyone else is doing it:
Did notice how the characters chopped and changed in episodes - didn't realise it was a budget thing but it makes sense.

Emmet dying - I reckon that will return later on. It was dealt with too easily.

Awesome was... well Awesome. Great to see him on a mission and there's no way he's dead. As iguana said - if he had died, we'd have seen it or heard it aloud.

It's got a great balance of humour and action, with great characterisation. The only slightly weak point is the Chuck/Sarah thing but the stars have enough chemistry to pull it through.

Great - you don't like it. So I'm assuming you won't bother posting on this thread again. Bye!

I wasn't saying it about you, I was just putting it as a disclaimer at the start, so if someone hadn't seen the episode they wouldn't read on. Then I commented on what clue your spoiler gave, that's why your quote is in the middle. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

Ah ok, sorry my bad... If I had been thinking properly I would've realised that...

I'm hoping Big Mike will be used more in upcoming episodes... Think he had 2 scenes in episode 2, and wasn't in episode 1 or 3...

I wonder is he still dating Morgan's mother.

It seems so... Morgan went to him looking for advice about Kareena - doubt he would've done that if Big Mike wasn't still dating his mother... and Mike referred to Morgan as "son" in that same scene...

Spoilers for future episodes, no spoilers for episodes just aired.
    Its not hard, people! :p

If people are reading this before seeing the latest episodes, let me fill you in. Chuck now knows kung-fu, classical guitar, gymnastics and the tango. He got a job back in the Buy More. Morgan is back too, but Anna is gone. Chuck pissed Sarah off by not running away with her, and now they're just friends (yeah right). Casey shot some people with a big machine gun. Emmet got shot in the head, but nobody other than the CIA knows. Big Mike is back. Morgan and Chuck are now flatmates, and Ellie and Devon have their own place. Carina was back for episode 2, and we saw her and Sarah getting dressed in slow motion. At the end of episode 3, something happened to Devon, but we don't know what it was. Given that the next episode is called
Chuck vs. Operation Awesome, we have to assume he is OK.

    See? :)

The only good thing about these eps. were the two hot chicks in Victoria's Secret undies getting dressed in slo-mo, you can tell the producers know it's demographic are fanboys cracking one off to the chicks.

    Other then that.....meh.

We get it - you don't like the show... More importantly, we don't care, so stop posting about why you don't like it... Everyone else posting on this thread does like the show...

Nice to see Ellie and Devon utilised more in the 3rd episode, because they really are great actors, i'll even go so far as to say that bringing Devon into the spy fold was one of the smartest things they did last season, and he did great work in 'versus angel de la muerte'
    and
the preview for next week looks fantastic

plus he has one of the best lines so far this season
'Good call on the loser cover Chuck, you're nailing it!'

Nice to see NBC actually promoting it as well! and its already paid off with well respectable ratings for all 3 episodes so far

Just got caught up on the three episodes (essays are totally wrecking my TV buzz :(), and loved them! I'm so glad this show is back. Great cliffhanger for the end of the third episode.
I'm assuming Awesome is gonna be rescued too. I think killing him off would be too dark for what is generally speaking just a fun show. Though having said that, the killing of Emmet was fairly viscious and unexpected, so you never know.

Also, I'm a completely 100% straight girl, but I have a major girl crush on Yvonne Strahovski. Wowsa.

Totally understandable. Any woman would be forgiven for going uber Lesbian for Strahotski :)

Loving season 3. The new intersect has made sure the show doesn't get stale and they're utilizing it very well. One thing though is they should lay off on the lovey dovey stuff a wee bit and get Chuck to tone down on the retardedness of trying to have personal conversations in the middle of missions.

Really hope the ratings continues so we get a 4th season!!

I didn't think this at all... I thought it was symbolic in the sense that he seems to have a family - wife anyway and possibly kids - and he is a spy... People have been telling Chuck all along that spies can't have serious relationships as this puts loved ones in danger... but Routh's character having a family proves this is not the case...
That's what I thought it meant anyway...
He and Sarah ddn't really seem to know each other and nothing was hinted at...

Really enjoyed this episode, thought it got into it's stride and Chuck wasn't half as annoying this week. Interested to see where they go with Shaw (Routh). Is he a recurring guest? Agree with what was said above, I didn't get any vibes that there was anything between him and Sarah.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55,669 ✭✭✭✭Mr E

    Routh has signed up for
    8
    episodes altogether.

The scene with Devon telling Ellie where he'd been was the funniest thing I've seen this year.

Very enjoyable stuff - we got the most "Buy More" scenes so far. And was it just me or was :
Lester wearing the same glasses as Brad Pitt did in "Fight Club"
    ?

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 21,634 ✭✭✭✭Richard Dower

Chuck me!....that ep. was good, i actually laughed. Superman in it as well?....great!
It had some genuinely funny moments, i Chuckled a few times....i'm gonna give this show a few more eps.

But it's still not my usual thing,

    He...soiled himself....and exposed himself. Brilliant.

Yep, first thing I noticed too. If it wasn't them, they were pretty damn close..

I implore you to go back to the start Rich... they're absolutely no point watching it now in it's 3rd season.
