It was 15 for guys and 17 for girls, but it was changed recently.

It sounds like you had no emotional bond with your partners and as such, I can imagine it was for you, no big deal. It's supposed to be just as much about the emotional bond as the physical side of it.

I suppose it depends on the emphasis you put on it. I don't think it's "supposed" to be about anything, it's whatever you want it to be. So it can be more about the physical side than the emotional side if you want it to be, or vice versa. There's no "right" or "wrong"* way.

*unless you're not using protection. Which is very, very wrong indeed.

I definitely should have added "I think" into my post, you are most certainly correct. :) Otherwise, I suppose, there would be no point in masturbation. And there is a whole culture out there for having sex for purely the physical.

Being single at the moment, I can say quite honestly that I miss the emotional closeness of a relationship a lot more than the physical side of things. But, again being as honest as I can be, I think I would put the two on an equal level within any relationship. That said, no two relationships are ever the exact same, so in the end it's all horridly arbitrary :)

Remember kids, abstinence is the best form of contraception.

    But arguably the least fun.

Teenage pregnancy isn't fun. Neither are STDs, so I've heard.

You saying that made me remember something.

Yes, it is the only method of contraception which is 100% guaranteed, all other methods have something like 98%* success rate. But I think I'm right in saying that most of the 2% failure rate is to do with people using the things incorrectly, like putting on a condom wrong or forgetting to take the pill.
I remember reading something along those lines somewhere.

    *Figure probably not correct.

"Mmm babe, I want you so bad, what form of contraception d'you wanna use?"

"Hmm babe...I heard about this one called abstinence, meant to have a success rate of 100%"

    "Oh..."

Unplanned pregnancies at any age are never overly fun.
    Neither are STD's.
Just because this is a teenage form doesn't mean we're all not going to practise safe sex. There is probably people in their 20's, 30's and 40's who are a lot more irresponsible than the posters in here.

Are you suggesting abstinence for just teenagers or for everyone before marriage? If it's for everyone then I suppose that's fair enough.

I'm not sure that's how it works, I thinks it's 98% even if things are done 100% correctly. Or I pulled that from the sky, not sure :D

    And this;

    Blasphemy can be fun :D

I can't remember from the episode of friends exactly..but isn't the failure rate 3% or something like that?

Either way, have sex 97 times. NO MORE.

Actually different forms on contraception have different success rates. It also depends on whether or not they're used correctly/taken properly etc.

www.ThinkContraception.ie has all the rates for different things on there.

That does make sense....but I know that a certain percentage of it is down to people using it wrong.

    They'll fail more than twice.

Really it means have sex 32 times and no more, that way it will have failed 0.96 times which is grand.

My mumsie (I mean, uh, de mudder) just gave me a bit of a safe sex talk, bless her. The topic of conversation went like this:

    >My friend who wants to do Art in college
    >>My cousin who did Art in college and is pregnant and unmarried.
    >>DON'T HAVE SEX SON.

Not really because you still have more than a 50% chance of getting pregnant.
