i have to give it to the civil defence for rolling out their all terrain vehicle in aid to the emergency services in the capital and surrounding.

it's exactly whats needed and the fire brigade management should be ashamed of them selves spending millions on 2 emergency tenders that can't even be put on the road because of the incompetence of the senior management and the chief and the CD can organise vehicles like this.

That ATV is some piece of kit, money very well spent. Good to see DCD have such a good working relationship with both the fire service and the army. The recruitment of ex fire and army personnel as CDO's in some counties has opened doors and helped build relationships. All services have been well and truly tested at this stage.

how much did one of these ATV cost, i know their ex military and are second hand?

Tried to by a Hagglund ATV personnel carrier today but the credit card wasnt up to the £12,000+vat asking price. Not bad seeing as they can cost over 200k new.

They can do upto 55kph on land, 2 knots on water, carry a 2 ton payload or upto 17 souls. Will do 6000 km on a set of standard tracks. Who doesnt need one!

sure isnt it the same Sean Hogan who is the advisor to the government for the fire service also the same sean hogan who heads up this so called emergency response committee group that met 3 weeks after "the cold spell" started? or is there 2 sean hogans?

well they certainly put the BV206 to the test last night, with the sucessful rescue of the lads in sally gap.

Dublin Civil Defence is hardly what you would call organised. it definitely lacks leadership.

having an ex army officer as CDO is only good if they are competent, civilian friendly and can lead.
