Peugeot 309 GTI were are they all? scraped?

    How come the 309 gti has become so rare even the normal 309 seem to be as rare as hens teeth now! my mate bought a 205 gti there recently its a mint 1.9 and he got it nct for a meer 900 euro but it got me thinking about the 309 so anyone know what happend to them all?

    Poor design. Already looked old when it was introduced. That said, the GTI was very capable iirc. Also the 309 wasn't a Peugeot at all, it was the last Talbot, given the Peugeot badge. I can see the 309GTI become a classic alright.

    The 309 wasn't all Talbot, spot the 205 doors. :D

    Also, a common trick was to put the 309GTi drives/Hubs/Struts & Wishbones in a 205GTi. It widened the front track by 10mm (iirc) and greatly improved handling in the 205

    The Rear Axle is also a common swap in 205/309's

    I imagine that most 309's were scrapped for engine/'box/Front suspension & rear axle into 205's
