hence the strict maths entrance requirement.

A B3 in OL Maths isnt exactly a strict requirement

Im doing OL for the LC..Hoping for an A2 at least
Are the maths lecturers any good there? I'm good at maths provided i have a decent teacher...Hence the reason I dropped from HL

    Whoops!

Nope... Maths requirements were dropped from OA2 to OB3 and the foreign language requirement was dropped for 2010/2011

If you get below a OB3 then you have to do the entrance exam

    Nothing to see here...

wow thats ridiculous! the maths is a good idea i think though, even though i am normally an a student in HL it opens up doors to people that might not find the maths easiest but would cope better in college

how do you know this about the language? any links?

i know a few from cork that manage going up and down most weekends!

Ya I'm one of em. :p but its actually really fast cuz we dont need to swap buses and we have citylink instead of bus eireann so its cheap enough to go up and down most weekends!

*Galway is unreal anyway though so no matter how long your journey - it'l be worth it!

It's a heavy enough workload in Mech Eng, but it's a well-taught course, and there's some good practical stuff as far as I know. The new engineering building will be finished by May 2011, so any engineering course in NUIG is a good idea now!

i agree. the new eng. building is gonna be fantastic. know friends doing it in ul too though and they say its gr8!

I've been looking up all the accomodation and is the fact that corrib has no pictures of the place an indication of how bad it is?

I better make a decision about accommodation soon

The Gort booking lines are opening on the 28th and it supposedly books up very fast

Still torn between here or corrib :(

Anyone know when corrib booking opens?

Gort and Cuirt are nicer, better furniture, rooms and more space.

Corrib is closer, theres a lot more first years in it, more parties (so far anyway) and you get a great chance at the beginning to socialise and get to know everyone.

Either or, you should be able to make friends easily. It just depends if you want to be in with a really large gang of first years in corrib or a smaller number mixed in with other older students in gort.
