-8.4 in kk now, was -9.8 earlier. wtf???

Quite likely due to a very slight Easterly developing.

this would be a walk in the park if the roads & paths werelooked after like in the states. but noooooooo nobody expected proper weather to ever happen in ireland

oh in answer to a way previous post, coldest 20th temps on recordare -19 (ish) in 1979

You know what, you're right, I'm lost...again. Too much random stuff in between facts ! :o

:D There's one thing I'm certain about .... time will tell!! But anticipation is almost as good as the event.... I'll check MT's forecast in the morning and comapre it with The Met and then go with whatever is in between! Ha ha

villain, you seem like to man to ask....

I notice on the NRA M7 weatherstation that they have temps for below ground.

    5cm Depth: -5.7°C
    30cm Depth:-3.6°C

    do you record such details?

just wondering how far down you would have to go to find >0 temps?

I ask as father-in-law has problems with frozen pipes coming from outside boiler, we suspect they are not deep enough (and maybe not insulated!!)

    going digging in the morning!!

What is the temp in Galway City?
Where would I find up to date information? Freezing fog all day.

Was that because little girls are synonymous with wearing lots of clothes?

There are probes inserted into the ground at differnt depts, my soil temp is at 10cms and is 1.1c. Waters starts to freeze at 4c.

It depends on location but the Met Office said they had frost at a foot below the ground, pipes would really want to be down at least 2 foot and then lagged after that

Ok. It's -9.1 lower than it was this time last night in Carlow (Vilians). Is it likely that this variation will continue till dawn ? That would give a low of -24.

Looks promising for the north west tomorrow evening, showers coming down from scotland on a north easterly...Eagleton on Met eireann mentioned that there would be a few showers, so we might get some tomorrow eve...if you run the cylcle for sunday the west features quiet well also on this model!!
