    All I can see is:

try refreshing the page. It says at the time 4:46.

4.46pm: Minister for Education Batt O'Keeffe has ordered that the country's 4,000 national and secondary schools are to remain closed on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of next week.

Teachers must be the biggest bunch of moany sissys in the country.

If everybody else can get to work, and do exams, no reason why these lazy overpaid control freaks cant do the same.

Are they going to make up the hours later in the summer? **** no!

I feel sorry for the 3rd and 6th years with their mocks soon.:o

I'm reading a 16.58 version of the page and there's no mention of it.

I hardly think the decision has been made for the teachers, it has been decided because they had to be seen to do something. Its not safe sending parents and children out on the roads.... I know in my area all the roads are still lethal constantly cars going into spins and being abandoned. My sister has to drive for half an hour on a bus and the road has been closed because its so dangerous! If they hadn't made this decision then there would have been people risking their lives to come in to an empty school as so many just wouldn't risk it !

This kind of nonsense pisses me off no end.The teachers had nothing to do with this decision. The principal of a school near me wanted to open and most teachers would have been able to make but the board of management (made up of parents) and the parents association said for health and safety reasons it was to remain closed.

Some schools that did open yesterday and today had very low attendences. A friend of mine was teahcing a class with 9 kids in it yesterday, out of what was supposed to be 29. The fact is that many kids do walk and cycle to school and the footpaths are lethal and will be getting worse with the snow being compacted and then freezing.

So ye you can moan all you want about teachers and their holidays and pay etc etc but cop yourself on thinking this closure has anything to do with the teachers not wanting to go into work.

Ridiculous post you have made there.

I am quite upset! But I'm in 6th year so :( Quite behind on a few subjects, mocks coming up etc.

+1, as a teacher, I would much prefer to have good weather and school on than this crap weather and school closed, what do you think we will actually be able to do with the time off?
OUr school was open yesterday and its well in country and very few in and as much as we would have no problem being open, it would be like having a shop with no customers or hospital with no patients.
I laugh when the ol anti public servant brigade come out in force!

Use it as extra study time.

The Leaving Cert isn't that hard anyways. ;)

Lol at the poster blaming the teachers.. :). They re prob to blame for the weather too.......Cop yourself on. Its a sensible decision giving priority to childrens safety.
