Must be a joke. The book was written for him by Richard Aldous.Bertie can hardly talk coherently .Aldous certainly had his work cut out translating Bertie babble into intelligible English.Fianna Fail corruption is more widespread than I thought. Is there any area of Irish life untainted?

:confused:if he couldnt remember how ''that money '' came to be in his bank a/c,how did he remember enough of everything else to write a book

This is an absolute disgrace. Why the hell should wealthy people like him not pay tax on his earnings from writing a book. Promoting artistic development is complete bull****. The are earning money it should be taxed simple as. I'd prefer not to pay tax but I do. But it's the government's disgrace and the fact that they implement it, I wish them a horrible professional and personal (somewhat) future.

According to the news on 104 Bertie has €70,000 in an account to pay this tax.(The usual hand-in-jar backpeddle?)

They could have saved a lot of time and paper by making this his biography.

I dont know why people are referring to the people who granted it as morons. They just follow the legislation which sets out the rules and criterian for the tax exemption. Doing their job.

Similarly, gardai follow the laws when they carry out their job. They dont have to be smart to do it.

I don't get the gardaí analogy

But, you know, it would just be fuppin brilliant if somebody stood up to that crook at some stage.

Its so wrong that he has this massive state pension. Wasted loads of tax-payers money by lying and being so frickin vague in all the tribunals. There was millions of euro wasted on this man.

He's exploiting the system and his status again.

We should really start up another thread called 'what's the next genius idea that Bertie Ahern will come up with to make taxpayers pay for his lifestyle?"

He's also a sham.I bet that his so called success in the peace negotiations was basically the work of government officials.Bertie's one of those opportunistic strikers who claims the credit even if the ball was over the line anyway when he stuck out his FF foot .His powers of concentration and stamina are naturally great ,and need to be, because he is thick, but he possesses that native cunning, necessary for survival.;)

we have funding for salt but there are also other countries in europe with an increased need for it at this time so supplies are low, I'm not sure if 'table salt' would get the job done as the grains/crystals are too small

oh, i thought i heard on the news the reason the week before new years wasnt gritted was because they ran out of funding for 2009 so had to wait till the new year to buy more salt/grit

    We are the plebs

Ahern will now take home a hefty €310,000 -- €43,000 more than Gordon Brown, who leads a country of 60 million people, and €20,000 more than US president George W Bush.

I dont ever recall seeing prolonged weather like this before so their stocks wouldnt have been enough anyway.

Art is already underfunded as it is, art like sport covers alot of disciplines and keeps kids off the street.

He is having a good time of late, this will be nice outcome for him,

and recently Celia named her new baby girl after him,
Irish romance novelist Cecelia Ahern has given birth to a baby girl.

The daughter of former Taoiseach Bertie Ahern and the baby Robin, who weighed in at 6lbs, were both said to be doing well at the Rotunda Hospital in Dublin.
