WAM fox call

I used the wam fox call for years and still do. Called in lot of charlies within spitting range. Is there anynthing else out there that can match its preformance and is simple to use?

The wigen caller looks much the same but smaller and made from steel and has a deeper sound. Still good at calling in the foxes and is a change from the wam when charlie is wise to the wam

9 out of 10 foxes prefer the wam but as you said they can get wise to them. What filter on a lamp works best on them, red or amber? I think the red is good but it dims the light a bit too much.

I use an amber filter (couldn't get the red at the time) But now I'm starting to use it without a filter on again. I use it dimmed down a little no filter on and get more light output.
When the fox is spotted it is turned way down and you can still see the reflection from charlies eye's.

I use the red filter and had an amber which I didn't take to any other good colour options

just got my wham caller delivered from england on friday, going out tonight so il put it to good use, use a red filter myself.. my brother has a brilliant call with foxes barking to each other, its not a high pitch screech or yelp like wots on the lockvogel but short barks and grunts, i think its supposed to be foxes talking to each other:eek: whatever it is it works! 9 times out of 10
they will come to see whats going on:D little do they no a 243 is pointing their direction:D:D

The wife got me a wam for x-mas, been trying it out a home but can't get any real volume of of it, are them ment to be quite??

Yeah they're quite, the loud noises can sometimes spook a fox. Shouldn't take much to call in a fox this time of year though they should be kinda cold and hungry at the moment.

Cheers, seem to be out of stock at the moment, I'll be at a few dealers on monday, they might have something!

AFAIK its only available on the website or on ebay, you won't buy them in any shop over here.

I completely agree, I tried expensive electronic callers.....I now always use the WAM....simple to use....I lamp on my own 99% of the time...and the wam is brilliant...

I have 3 and to be honest I dont really like the WAM- it never seems to work for me whereas the FoxCallUK does...

You're only supposed to use one at a time

Have yet to call in a fox with mine.

I might try one of those also Glensman, no harm to have a couple of different models incase they get wise to a certain type?

Does yours bring them in regularly?

Learn to use your hand

(I can't!)

The primos cotton tail mouth call is good, only for windy nights though as it's LOUD.

The Callmaster is good, but expensive. If you have some type of MP3 player and a half decent speaker you can download rabbit/hare/chicken distress calls and stick them on it.

I downloaded mine form westernrivers and fired them on the i-pod....

Different foxes seem to like different calls- I tend to take as many as will swing from my neck and try them all until he'll start coming towards me... But then foxes are fairly well educated where I am
