So have you ever read a post you liked, gone to thank it, and...

...realised it was written by a poster you really don't like, and not thanked it as a result?

It's happened to me once or twice.

So, are you a thanks snob? Will you only thank certain individuals? Or do you judge all posts independently on their individual merits?

Not really. I'd thank a post on the merits of the post itself, not who posted it

    I don't have posters I don't like, that's just sad...

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

sometimes i have done this, only because later on in the thread i would notice them suddenly getting abrasive and lose support of their original post. So i've gone back and removed thanks as a result.

I can't be bothered looking at the posters name. The only poster I could name offhand is the legendary Feeky McGee

    Your forgetting the infamous SlasherMcGurk.

The After Hours section must be full of some of the most
self absorbant people on the planet!!!!

Every 2nd thread now is about thanks and thanks.

Who gives a flying fook whether somebody thanks your post or not,
an opinion should be honest and not influenced by the need for thanks.
Im beginning to think AH is a web of lies and deceit and is built on
the falsification of the truth just to get some thanks!!!!!!!!

Ok maybe that was a bit OTT but you get my drift

I get your drift, but it's ok, the posters here are so self absorbant we can just soak ourselves and our neediness up. End result? No mess. It's like a Bounty (or Plenty) ad, but the men look better in their dresses.

Mad how they all frequent After Hours .. the odds must be staggering.

Can you provide links to these threads as I must have missed them as the only one that I can think of is this one.

Nope, I'd give thanks to the post that deserves it. And facepalm at the ones they come out with that make me wish there was a dislike button.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 17,689 ✭✭✭✭OutlawPete

18 posts and yet only three 'thanks' in the thread so far.

Think if you scared people away from the 'thanks' button OP.

    Edit: Five now :)

    Edit II: Ten now :D

    Edit III: Twenty Two now.

It's human nature; it is hard to credit somebody that you are not really fond of.
And, usually when you do, it is faint praise

Really? I don't think it's sad. Just like in real life there's certain posters get on my t1ts!
I would still thank them if I thought their post deserved it, just like I would laugh at someones joke in real life even if I didn't like them.

I'm more of a 'thanks slut' than a whore :D

Especially if I start a thread, anyone who responds by answering the question I pose or task I set - I will inevitably 'thank' ..

I thank them anyway. If the post is good, it's good....and so it gets a Thanks.
