Question about choice of optics?

Well I overcome with shock and glee. The Eotech arrived today, serious service from Ehobbyasia! Got the Eotech and a screen protecter for the grand total of €57.99 and arrived from HK in 2 days! Am very impressed with the sight itself, a small bit of ghosting but a big step-up from a normal red dot.

Anyone know how to attach the plastic things that cover the lenses, I got one with the Eotech?

If it's a clear thing with three prongs, it's installed by shoving. Try not to get fingerprints on the inside while doing so because you won't be able to wipe in there. Worth removing the battery housing before going at it, because the arm can get in the way.

If it's a flip-up front and back thing, hold it in your good throwing hand and throw it in the bin. If you want to know why, you need to unscrew the cowling on the sight with an allen key, fit the cover into it, get it back in position and screw it on again - needs an allen key. Use it for a while and soon you'll be unscrewing and winding up for a good hard throw.

Ah I see thanks, like in this picture yeah. I not gonna throw it away just yet, I think it serves a bit of purpose.

The problem I had with it was it getting knocked closed whenever I'd let my gun hang by its sling (or get knocked by a twig, and sometimes jostled at all). You don't notice, until you bring it up to your eye (which is because you need it RIGHT THE HELL NOW) and it's all dark. I'd installed it so's I could close off the sight for close-quarters stuff because I'd had an EOTech replica smashed in The Warehouse, but frankly I'd rather just take it off than have to put up with that damn thing anymore.

It's an effect where a faded version of the crosshair or what have you is visible near the proper one, which tends to make a blurry annoying mess that's hard to figure out where the real centre is. At a guess I'd say it's caused by cheap optics causing the thinger to project on both surfaces of the lens, with a bit of refraction going on in the middle. But I don't know nothing about optics. All you need to know is that it sucks, and with that description you'll recognise it when you see it.

What would be a decent 4x ACOG be as opposed to the red dot "ACOG".

The amount of branded and cheapo Chinese ones has me a bit confuddled.
