How to light a stanley range properly?

We just moved into an old council house that has a stanley 900 range in the kitchen, we want to keep it, but being use to just flicking a switch to heat my house has left me a bit simple! so what i'd like to find out is how to go about lighting the range and maintain it.Thank you.

use good dry fuel , if you can get some ecobrite its the bees knees , its a more modern alternative to anthracite coal.

Start by making sure your firebox and ashpan are cleaned out fully , a good fuel for getting yor fire started is peat briquettes , open the damper wheel fully by turning it anti clockwise.

Use some firelighters and kindling and throw in 5 or 6 brickets.
When the fire is up and going throw on some ecobrite, (or more briquettes)

Close the damper till itis just opened , should be going good after that.

Do you have oil fired central heating aswell as the stanley?
