To regurgitate the thoughts and musings of people far more funny and intelligent than me and try to pretend they're my own. If only for a few hours even.

I post because before I was a member, everytime I googled any topic looking for information, boards always came up in the list, and there was always a thread with people discussing whatever it was I was searching for.

I think that it's a fountain of information about all national and international stories, and it's better than just watching the news alone, because you get to hear so many different opinions from people, which sometimes can make you look at things in a different light.

It's not just news though. I love that there's a forum for nearly everything you could want, music, politics, humanities, philosophy, food and drink, fashion and appearance, ranting and raving etc.
I use AH the most, because there are both serious and hilarious threads always happening.

I have really bad insomnia,so boards keeps me occupied when I'm still awake at 4:30am!
All in all it has a great mix of things that interest me.
Some of the posts I've read have had me laughing my ass off,so it can cheer you up if you're having a bad day.:)

Another reason to post on boards...maintaining a blog is too stressful, and I'm not desperate enough to use twitter.

Why is twitter use a sign of desperation?
I have too many posts on here. I think I'll defect to twitter.

Twitter is kinda like the "Look at me...look at me!" of the social networking world. It requires little or no effort, and yet serves the ego just as much as a blog/videoblog.

Well I like it. And I hate all the rest of them. Facebook and the like. Not my cup of tea.

I post on boards because I like that people can speak their minds (within legal limits) on most topics, I like the choice of forums and the different communities within the larger boards community, I like that there is less of the disingenuous sugar-coating you get on some other sites. If I want a serious discussion then I can have that, if I want a bit of light-hearted banter then there is that too. It's big enough for there always to be something new without getting too cliquey or samey for the most part. I like it here.

That & the dire choice of TV programmes.

Think that's it plus so many different things in the one site. I'm hooked on the weather forum at the minute, reading the updates on the snow, something I'd never have done without boards.
