Hi I want to start learning bass and am looking for a cheap one to start with, anyone know if Bensons are any good?

No idea, but i picked up a used Squier Precision that i like a lot

I'm not that familiar with Benson basses, but from what I've read they are not great. It is a case of you get what you pay for. IMO you would be better off going for an SX (available in Waltons, if you want to try one out), or a Fender Squire, as woody33 says.

Also, keep an eye on www.adverts.ie. Good bargains to be had there from time to time.
