adding signature in Mail app

Wanted to add a signature to an email account in Mail but don't seem to have a signature option under Mail -> Preferences.

    Running Mail 1.3.11 (v622/624) on OS X 10.3.9.

This seems to be where I should add the signature for this version of Mail.

Any ideas what might be wrong or how I can activate the Signature option.

    thanks in advance,
    - GM

I don't know if this is any help:

Afraid not - when I go in to Preferences I have no Signature option. Its not even there and "grayed" out.

Its as if the version I have does not support signatures yet that does not seem to be the case from what I have found on the net.

Find your Install Disc and reinstall Mail; there sounds like somethings corrupted here and Mail needs to be reset.

Afraid that would be the case !!

Cannot find the install disk. Do I un-install and then re-install ? Also will the new install pickup the existing mail settings or will I have to start from scratch ?

Try this.... go to Apple/System Preferences/Accounts... set up a new account and set up your mail within that new account. If it works there then go back to your original account and try running a Disk Utilities etc to see if it finds anything up. Could be a corrupt preferences file either.

OK Rats, created a new account and was able to see Signature, Rules etc in Mail when logged in with the new account. Thanks for that !

But have not used Disk Utility before....what do I use ? First Aid ? Verify Disk Permissions ?

Is is as simple as a missing toolbar?
Mail -> Preferences -> Click view on the main (top of the screen) menu -> Click Show Toolbar?

Repair Disk permissions is what you want.

    Licksy ! - you the Star !!!

To be honest I was focused in corrupt files, disk repairs etc that I had skipped you post...so only got to it this morning and you were correct.

Thanks and thanks to everyone for their input. Once again this forum has come to my rescue !!!
