I got this setup working last night. Full seamless merged channel listing, recording facilities, favorites etc.

Nifty tool DVBViewer (only 15euro from the website). My DVB-T device is a Hauppauge Win-PVR 900 USB stick and I have a Technotrend 1500 Budget DVB-S card.

I had to download Cyberlink Power DVD 8 trtial to get a H.264 filter/codec for Irish DTT and DVB-S HD channels but it all works perfectly now.

HD channels are immaculate on the PC.

    Hi Slegs,

Wll done on getting your sys running smoothly.

In my PC, I've got the Hauppauge HVR-3000 tri mode hybrid tuner and I'm using DVB viewer Pro (latest ver) and I had to use the arcsoft H.264 decoder to get the HD channels (BBC, ITV) running they still not perfect, picture lag/judder but they certainly run better for me using arcsoft, they were unwatchable when I used the Cyberlink codec so I'm just wondering what spec PC do you have perhaps my Processor isn't powerful enough?

    P4 3.07, 2.5 Ram, XP Pro, ATI Radeon x1950pro (512mb), Hauppauge HVR-3000

    Hi Peneau

Its a Dell Core 2 Duo (2.3ghz I think) 2GB RAM with an ATI Radeon 2400 Pro card. Picture is 100% smooth on both DVB-S HD and DVB-T MPEG4

DVBViewer crashes on me ever so often and instantly when I try to record or pause live TV.

It does this for both DVB-S and DVB-T. Terratec HT Cinergy DVB-T and TechnoTrend Budget DVB-S.

Unfortunatly I have yet to find ANY software which supports my two cards (both have bda drivers), supports H.264, and is solid.

    Hi again Slegs,

Methinks my problem is probably not having a dual or quad core cpu, I've no problems on normal DVB-T or the current Mpeg 4 RTE etc, trials, just the HD channels, probably stressing my old P4 too much.

    Thanks for that Slegs.

I don't suppose anyone has a channel list file for Terratec Homecinema? It's tuning all the channels at the moment, but it'd be handy to have a list that someone had already chopped down to size.

    Cheers.

Not sure why you are having a problem. DVBviewerplus works fine for me with recording of live TV! Have Technisat and Pinnacle hardware.

Didn't notice the date when I posted in the thread last night:o - DVBViewer has evolved somewhat in the past 15 months!

I have a Terratec Sat card, but I still use DVBViewer rather than home cinema. I originally had trouble getting the terratec card to see the HD channels. With DVBViewer you still use the terratec Cyberlink h.264 decoder, but it can get a bit techie so it's not for everyone! I use a Pinnacle USB stick for DTT. Have looked at moving over to Windows 7, but the Microsoft decoder and BBCHD don't like each other, so will stick with XP Pro for now. I am using a onboard ATI HD3200 graphics card so I have no problems with the HD picture (once I found the right codc/renderer combination).

peneau, I agree that your processor might be a bit under spec, but your ATI card might need to be upgraded to get the HD stuff to work properly - I would try upgrade that first.

Thanks for that tiaavtech any suggestions on V.C. upgrade?

You dont need to use the MS decoder for H264 on win7. I'm running a GBPVR setup on win7 and using the PDVD9 codec fine. Although I agree, when I started this installation it tried to use the MS decoder and the results were less than useful.

BBC HD and Windows 7 work flawlessly together - I record from it all the time?

Any of the ATI cards with HD in the name should be fine - I'm not too familiar with the range. Also, not sure what type of graphics slot you have in the PC - AGP or PCIx16?

    +1

I wonder if BigMoose and tlaavtech are/were using the Win7 beta?

The only problem I had was using the included MS H264 decoder, gave me only the top left of the screen taking up the whole screen (if that made sense). I've seen reports in the gbpvr forum of this but couldn't be bothered to fix is as the consensus was that the PDVD9 H264 decoder looks better anyway. So I'm using that on Win764pro and have no problems at all. I'm playing/recoding BBC HD and ITV HD perfectly.

Do you mean you were using (trying to use?) the MS decoder with GBPVR? I just used the MS WMC out of the box on a clean install of Win 7 64bit Ultimate. Haven't tried any other media centre s/w on that box. The user interface on WMC was quite clean, but I missed the ability to tweak the satellite/terrestrial channel settings. I'm going to move Win 7 to my proper HTPC machine shortly. Hope it plays nice with DVBviewer Pro!

100% release legit copy!! Think it might be an ATI related problem - What graphics card do you have?

Think I should stop now 'cause this is SAT not DTT!

fat-tony, DVBViewer and Win7 are good friends!!

Yes exactly. Although I know it would have been trivial to solve, many on the forums had commented that the MS decoder gave a poorer looking image than the PDVD9 decoder so I didn't put any effort into solving the problem (other than installing the PDVD9 H264 decoder!).

Well I have a DVB-T card in there too for Irish DTT reception, which being H264 is related...! :) I do have an ATI HD4650 if that is related.

I have exactly the same :D Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-S2H Motherboard?

I've got the exact same MB but got annoyed with the on board HD3200 not being able to cope with the resolution at 1080p@50 and showing on screen graphics on top of the video. It plays the video more or less fine (but stutters a bit with 1080i broadcasts) but could only do nice OSD at 720p. The HD4650 has no such problems at all.

Never had playback problems once I stuck to the gigabyte versionof the graphics driver - and even when there was problems, stuttering was never one of them!

At this stage, I just stream all the recordings to the PS3 using PS3 media server. Solves all the headaches!

Yes - same mobo. Works excellently with HD, low processor load providing you are using a codec which can drive the ATI hardware decoding of H.264:)
