Tripod? I would've thought they'd sell out the Olympia easily.

Sweet! Any idea of the price?

I have thought they'd have played the Olympia alright.

Gonna be tough to get tickets.

Tripod and the Olympia have the same capacity. The Olympia is owned by MCD while Tripod is owned by Pod so the venue is a reflection of who the promoter is not the act. It is just rare that MCD miss out the opportunity to bag someone like this though I know Pavement have had issues performing in Ireland before so this may be the reason.

Holy ****, amazing. Didn't Stephen Malkmus play Tripod with the Jicks a year or two back? Now Pavement in the same venue. :) Good thing there is a nice long gap between this and Primavera Sound.

I would've thought the Olympia was a tad larger than Tripod. Vicar Street would have been another option as well and they could have easily sold out there. Perhaps they chose a small venue as a warmup for an Electric Picnic appearance like you said earlier.

They're both rated at 1300 capacity in any literature I can find (some have Tripod as 1350). Not entirely sure how that is broken down though as it may include Tripods second bar area that hasn't a view of the stage. I've suspected for some time Tripod is counting this area in ticket sales as sold out gigs there are always way more packed than they should be.

I suspect Vicar St is off the cards for POD promoted gigs for a while after the EP split between Aiken and POD. From what I heard Aiken were less than happy. Have there been any since then? I can't think of any.

The only other option after that would have been the O2 but I don't think that would have been feasible. You maybe right about Malkmus requesting Tripod though as he played there before.

I thought the Sonic Youth gig was under POD but strangely enough there's no mention of it on their site or Aiken's. So yep, it does seem like their ties are severed.

EDIT: Is up on the POD site now.

Wow, I thought Tripod was about 800 maximum. Haven't been there in a few years.

It's only open about three years. It was the Redbox before then which did have a smaller capacity I think.

Event has been removed from Ticketmaster. Announced prematurely perhaps?

    EDIT: Back up there now.

Event has been removed from Ticketmaster.

Does anyone know if tickets are still going on sale friday?

It's still up there for me.

Actually no it's not.... everybody ignore it. No tickets on sale Friday. ;)

Sweet. I'd been hoping they would announce a Dublin date. Hope I can grab a ticket - they'll be gone quick...

Shít, just found out I have exam on the 4th.

Thankfully it ends at 20:30 and I'll be more or less 10 minutes away from Tripod once I'm out, so I definitely should be able to catch the whole gig. Think I'll go the seating route for this and standing at Primavera Sound.

Does anyone know if Tripod generally do reserved or unreserved seating at the concerts held there?

Got tickets.. still seems to be some left... not an instant sell out so.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,585 ✭✭✭honru

Yeah, seated tickets seem to be gone, decided to go standing in the end.

Got a couple of standing tickets. That was easier than I expected... they still seem to be on sale now.

What's the attraction of being seated for a band like Pavement?

got my tickets and i cant wait for this. Im suprised it didnt sell out in seconds but then again alot of people are probably buying tickets for oxygen today.

Yeah it seems that everyone got tickets. Strange. I thought they'd be gone like lightning, especially seeing as it's on in tripod. Shows that the brilliance of Pavement still isn't accessible to a lot of people. This just contributes to my love for them...

Yeah just wandered on there a minute ago and got some balcony tickets no hassle.

I'm not heading to their ATP so it'll just be here and New York I see them. :)

Also Tripod is an awful standing venue for packed gigs.

all their fans are in their late 30s. that's the attraction.

Can't really see the point of standing because I don't know how you'd dance to them
