If you fail an exam in semester 1, then you have to repeat it in the Autumn. For contineous assessment / labs its a bit more complicated. You continue on to semester 2.

Eitherway i'd recommend that you contact the SU Education officer, John Lane at sueducation@cit.ie / 021 4933120 or call into the Students' Union office, first floor of the student centre

Semester 1 and 2 are independent of one another. So failing Semester 1 has no bearing on Semester 2.

ALL FAILED EXAMS, regardless of semester, are repeated in August, as was always the case.

So if you fail an exam in Semester 1 you've a good while to wait before you sit the repeat.

One thing I like about semesterization...

Failed maths last year and repeated in the Autumn but still didn't manage to pass but passed one or two others I had to repeat.

Then just finished semester 1 now for Maths this year so I'm off from now until next September:D

Can I ask what advantage that is?

There are no jobs out there and your best hope of getting one is through your college education...and you failed at that

Advantage is that it leaves me free to work from now until next September on alot of work I need to get done at home, some projects I have at the moment and a good bit of work for customers.

Other advantage is I really didn't like the idea of going straight from one final year of a level 7 straight into the final year of a level 8 course!

3rd advantage is... even if I did go straight through, there still wouldn't be any jobs around from coming out of college this summer. The fact I'll be in college a year extra this year while still having a break in the middle to work means I'll enjoy my last year more as I won't be a broke student like I was for the first year years and have a better chance in getting a job when I graduate as things might be better in another year or so.

Who said I failed at college? I didn't drop out or anything and have passed all my exams albeit failed some first time round... mostly due to being too busy with other stuff to study properly :o

Well if you fail an exam in semester 1 and another group of students are doing that module in semester 2 then it is possible to repeat the exam in May instead of August if it fits in with your semester two exam timetable.Well thats what I did last year.:D
